Ride to the screening of the documentary

MEETING TIME: 5:30 pm
START TIME: 6:00 pm
MEETING AT: Hollywood / Vine Red Line Station
FREE!!!

The ride must leave promptly at 6:00 pm Since the movie starts at 7:00 pm. We'll be riding to the Hammer Museum in Westwood Village. The ride is less than 9 miles one way. We'll be riding back to a Red Line station. Approximate ride length is 18 miles.

For the Bible Tells Me So (2007)
The award-winning, feature-length documentary For the Bible Tells Me So (2007) examines how the Bible has been used by religious conservatives to sanction discrimination, repression, and injustice around the world. The Bible has been used to justify slavery, empower segregation, and excuse the subjugation of women.

Today, a handful of religious passages are commonly exploited to justify condemnation of and violence against homosexuals. For the Bible Tells Me So explores this phenomenon and directly confronts the determination of the religious right to deny gay and lesbian people basic human rights.

Through the experiences of five very normal, Christian, American families - including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson - we discover how people of faith handle the realization of having a gay child or family member.

There will be a Q & A session with the director, Daniel Karslake, immediately following the screening.

Running time: 97 minutes.

FILM SYNOPSIS

Does God really condemn loving homosexual relationships? Is the chasm separating Christianity from gays and lesbians too wide to cross? Is the Bible an excuse to hate? These questions and more are answered in this award-winning documentary, which brilliantly reconciles homosexuality and Biblical scripture - and reveals that religious anti-gay bias is based almost solely upon a misinterpretation of the Bible.

You wish that was the case. I actually support and fight for men and women to have equal rights. That includes the right to marriage and other benefits a certain group of our society have over others. My words are put into action. What about you? You like to insult a certain group in our society every chance you get from what I gather.

what a hypocrite! You can dish it out, but you can't take it.

In case you didn't know, Big Gay Al is a character from South Park, you're a big guy, your name is Al, and I love South Park. Besides, calling you gay is not an insult, it's true.

How is it alright that you call me fluffa every opportunity you have, and I can't call you Big Gay Al?

Look at your first post. It clearly states the museum is closed on Monday.

OK after consulting God, I was advised that we should be leaving earlier. He told me that I should start at Hollywood and Highland at 5:30 pm. God works in mysterious ways! So don't ask!

So the details are as follows.
MEETING TIME: 5:00 pm
START TIME: 5:30 pm
MEETING AT: Hollywood / Highland Red Line Station

The ride must leave fairly promptly since the movie starts at 7:00 pm. If we know someone is late, we can wait a few minutes. The idea is to get there early, so we can get in. Don't be late!

Rain will make us holier.
Numbered spoke cards are limited to the first 15 ridazz.
Oh yeah, the cards will be holier too!

"How is it alright that you call me fluffa every opportunity you have, and I can't call you Big Gay Al?"

Me -
Like I watch TV! I never seen one episode of South Park. I did see the movie though. I never saw this character, nor have I ever heard of him.

In the contents of learning this, and you getting called a fluffa, you have my blessings. You earned it! Anyone else has to beat me in a match of billiards if they wish to call me that!

BTW, fluffazz is a lot friendlier of a ribbing than demeaning a whole class of our society. I'm sure you're aware of this. This was my impression before you cleared it up.

harry,

the movie was excellent, you should have came and you would have forgot about whatever was ailing you.
Sad but true, people still condemn people for their sexuality, go figure.

Film was beautifully done, look forward to future films from this guy, I think he is going to be the next documentary film make superstar. Can't wait for his next work. More stuff at the hammer, to come... tomorrow John dean and David Sirota, wednesday is Symphany for the Devil

check the calendar

http://www.hammer.ucla.edu/calendar.htm

security has always been dickheads to me at the Hammer, must have something to do with OXY oil and the looting and polluting of the Amazon, (I wonder if Please run for President Al Gore, still owns stocks in Occidental oil)

Tonight the parking attendant told me they need me not to ride through the parking entrance/exit. Went through a few times, 3 or four times back and fourth.

That when the parking attend told me he would like to have critical mass come through next right, I said of course I would be happy to oblige.

Parking attendant: I need you not to ride through here anymore
Sexy: You need me too, do you mean you don't want me too?
Parking attendant: that right don't ride through here anymore
Sexy: Sure I'll bring critical mass through, next ride.

You can now ride with total abandonment for the rest of 2008 and not worry about the percussions! Next up is going see one of those reverends that hates gays. Get our god on and hatred for gays all in one shot!

Come on guys, where the pics of our "bicycle sculptor"?

Sir Harry,

It was a one night showing. The DVD is available for sale at their website. We would have liked to have you ride with us last night. It was a fun group to hang out with.

Hey user:
Have you seen these Richard Dawkins videos?

Dawkins is a devout atheist, and goes all over the world meeting with a bunch of religious leaders trying to understand why they are also so crazy.

A very different take than last night's (excellent) prgram which was much more concillitory toward religion and progressive theology.
