Quick Release or Bolt???

Hey everyone so I ride road bikes so I am used to the quick release but I am building my first fixie which is a Fuji Track Pro and was wondering if it is ok to put a quick release on the front or not. Just wanted to get some peoples opinion before i buy some wheels for it.

I have quick release on fronts and backs for all my bikes. At least for me it is a personal choice for the following:
1) safety is not an issue since I really do not leave my bike out of sight ( not that bolts cant be taken off either).
2) Just much easier to take off for repairs, adjustments and when you have to throw it in a vehicle.

hey thanks for the comment....so what about durability on you quick release on the back wheel. do you have a basic one or a high end heavy duty skewer? i read something about the force put on them by fixies can cause them to snap or break and sometimes slip off. have you had any of that kind of stuff happen?

A proper track bike does not have quick release.

If it's a fixie get a bolt on rear axle for sure. Front doesnt matter as much.

You can use a quick release on a rear fixed gear wheel if you use a nice steel closed cam skewer. That said, most hubs come with a solid axle and axle nuts

The main issue with track bikes due to their popularity is theft. Lugged wheels are harder to steel because they require tools to remove and q/r wheels do not. A q/r front would make the bike easier to quickly store or put into a car as commented above.

I run Bullseye BMX hubs,
They can use a bolt or QR
Right now I'm running QRs front and rear on my fixed gear.
The rear QR needs to be cut and taped to fit 120mm track spacing.
I also use a 1.370 x 24 English bottom bracket lockring as my Cog lockring
Same tpi count as a freewheel.

go bolt on. yeah its a bit more work to remove but you won't have to worry about some asshole taking your shit if you lock up somewhere.

You really think a couple regular axle nuts will keep your wheels from being stolen? Quick release or not, lock both your wheels or they will get stolen sooner or later. Don't be stupid
