Hot summer nites

So last monday nite I made like a perverted homeless guy and cavorted about in the park au naturel while taking my monday nite, whether I need it or not, shower.
Apparently at about 9:30pm monday nites at the west side of Balboa Park in the valley where the orange bikeway meets the park, near the velodrome, the lawn sprinklers come on.
Very refreshing in the middle of a ride.
And now that I've publicized this, I'll be sure to wear my shorts next time. Or at least invest in some nite vision goggles so I can scope out any lurking spectators waiting for my grand escapade.
So when's the "Midnite at the Oasis" ride? Or did I miss that one?

I'll be sure to keep my eyes peeled next time I roll through....

Well, holy shiite. Call my comments ignorant, but dang if the sprinklers in the park weren't on tonight. yeah!
So who's up for biking out to a ridazz start point from NoHo or thereabouts next time around? I'm thinking about it, and you've got a whole month, maybe, to think about the trek over the hill. I'm up (or down, whatever) for it and I'll be starting from Warner Center.
I'll bring it up again later, work on those legs.

I'm totally game for broadening Ridazz horizons with tours out in the valley. NoHo would be a great start point for a loop that cruises down the Orange Line bikeway into the Sepulveda basin and back.

What's involved in organizing a ride? I'd be up for something in the valley.

just name a date and time and have a few people willing to help you put together a path (sounds like the path would be pretty simple) and if you like you can add a theme to it to make it fun.... sounds like maybe a kickball game would be fun or dodgeball soccer etc. get all your friends together, post your ride on here, bike boom and various other sites... it's pretty casual.
man this ride actually sounds pretty damn fun... I'll be out there. bring the BBQ supplies or peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches etc...

I'd suggest starting the ride on a Sunday around 11am so there's enough time to get to the spot... when I ride to balboa from noho it takes about 1/2 hour at 18 mph... plan an an hour or a little over since as a group it would prolly be a lot slower. it'd be fun to go once around the whole thing maybe I dont know... bring lots of water... what else? make a flyer image. post it in the submit ride/event link:

How about, "The 'Splat!' Ride?"
Cyclists are typically a messy bunch. Between sweating, car exhaust, and road hazards, we can get pretty messed up.
Let's celebrate our grunge! Everyone brings their messiest PB'nJ's, Bannana's, Raisin's, Honey, or all of the above. Also required is "grunge" attire (anything stained would be perfect).
We'll do intervals along the Orange Line to Balboa Park, following all traffic lights (there's no way anyone can get lost). By the time we reach the park, everyone should be sweaty.
In keeping with the "splat!" theme, we'll also play dodge ball. Volleyballs will be used for the "serious" players, and beach balls for those who don't want to get hurt.
Any other ideas?

seeing as how this is midnight ridazz...how about a dinner affair instead of lunch? Then at least the ride home could be done in the still of the night. Have to check out the firepit situation.
Also, some of the ridazz may want to attend religious services on Sunday, not me, but whatever gets you thru the night. So a Saturday maybe?
