"It may sound like chaos, but it's only the lesson drawn from one of the insights of traffic psychology: Drivers will force the accelerator down ruthlessly only in situations where everything has been fully regulated. Where the situation is unclear, they're forced to drive more carefully and cautiously."

On a trip to Pamana City last year I marveled at an awkwardly angled intersection in a busy shopping district. The combined traffic of cars and pedestrians flowed effortlessly despite the lack of traffic signs/lights or markings in the road.

My only issue with this is the conversion of the road from asphalt to cobblestones.
Riding a bike on cobblestones sucks big. There's a reason cyclists were the first ones to advocate for paved roads rather than dirt or cobblestones or gravel.

Do they really mean cobblestones, or more like paving stones? big difference.

There's surprisingly alot of videos on this designing on youtube and elsewhere. I posted one below. Notice how there's no grossly over sized vehicles on the road? Far more efficient than we have here.

BTW, you can find alot of stuff by using the search term "traffic Calming". Too bad we didn't go out to Berkley when we down SF. Berkley has alot of this going on there. My bet is they'll be the first ones in the US to do this minimal road signs thing.
