Not to burst any bubbles, but is hard training really necessary for this type of ride??
From my perception, ALC is extremely worthwhile and whatnot, but it doesn't seem like a time-trial/race.
Not unless the goal is to attract would-be's and make them able for a ride of this magnitude.
Just something I had to say.

It's 545 miles that normally seems like a lot to most people. I however do it every other day, so no biggie.

ALC is not a race, and any one who's been to our training rides knows we are paced accordingly. It's not a cubcamp/wolfpack kind of riding. However, it is serious training, and ALC will have some epic hill climbs which we are preparing for.

Any individual day of the event would not be that challenging, but riding 545 miles (almost 80 miles a day average) with no recovery days is not going to be a cake walk. With the exception of those who have done ALC in the past, and possibly tern, I doubt any Ridazz have done this many miles in a week, complete with multiple several mile hill climbs.

Also it's my goal with our training that everyone will be in a condition to enjoy this ride, and not feel like the living dead come day 7, arriving back to L.A..

Bent, its not a race but an endurance ride for a cause. It averages about 80 miles a day (there is at least 1 Century for 7 days straight. Regardless of how often you ride, that's still very taxing on the system. Day 1 or 2 has a 9 mile climb. No, its not Tour de France climbing but its still a friggin long time to be pedaling upwards. There are hills of varying difficulty every day, Strong Headwind and Crosswinds to deal with through a couple of parts of the ride and varying temps to deal with (from cold mornings to Hot sunny riding through King City area).

Anyone can do a Century, give or take, and recover over the next day or 2 but how does your body (and ass) handle 7 days of that? It gets a little trickier.

I'm actually hoping to build a Tall road bike, but wih my financial situation as it is I've yet to be able to find two 56/54 frames. If you see any free ones let me know!

Well, seeing as how these are happening on StunDays, and that's one of my new days off, perhaps I'll rear my ugly head once more.
I just find it amazing when I'm actually trotting alongside roadrigs on my mtb foldup.

Between E.A.R. Pressure, F.E.A.R. Pressure, Los Angelopes, and Funder*storm* on Saturday, there is exactly no chance I will not be too hungover and tired to ride at 8am. Its going to be a 50 mile/25 beer saturday, I suspect.

Wessssside by 8am? Why do you people do this to me?!

On the other hand, won't miss it for the world. See you then.

Oh yeah, and about these training rides being unnecessary... maybe it is for some, but my progress over the past couple of months has been huge. And like they've mentioned above, I want to be smiling at the top of those hills, not crying.

BUT all of that aside... these things are damn good time. Good enough to drag my ass out of bed and bike to Venice for 8am. (god help me)
