I'm looking at buying my first fixed gear bike. My gf just got one and I rode around, I love how it feels and the connection I have with the bike.
But, I need advice. I can't afford something pricey right now for my starter bike, but I have a few in mind. Eventually if I really like it I'll go all out on the bike, but I'm just starting out and I want a good quality bike for the cash I have.
I'm not into doing tricks, just riding and I don't think I could do a trick if I tried.
My choices are below, if anyone could help me decide I would appreciate it so much.
If you can, save up for the Kilo TT. I've ridden a Windsor Hour, a Republic (Urban Outfitter's Bike, hah) and my fixie beater is an SE Draft. Compared to those 3, the Kilo's frame is worlds nice/lighter. At that $279 price they're all super similar. The deciding factor for me might be the pedal body... the Motebecane 'might' come with a plastic body one which I guarantee is going to need replacing quicker than anything metal, China made or not.
I'm always joking.... it's was just an innocent.... push to help.... give an idea of what the bike would look like, since.... he don't know exactly what he wants.... deeeeengg .... my bad....
on a serious note....check out fred's bike shop in culver city on sepulveda just west of Culver Blvd. He's got some new fixed gear bikes for around the same money...not sure what brand but i trust him 100% to give you a good deal.
