Let's ride. The WESTSIDE rules all, and we need another ride. VENICE CRITICAL MASS IS ON!! Other than LA Critical Mass We'll be riding on the traditional day of Critical Mass - the last Friday of every month. It'll be a relaxed ride through the chill ass streets of West LA.

If you're calling it Critical Mass, is it going to promote the principles of the CM rides, raising awareness of cyclists to motorists? It just seems like there are 5 CM rides in LA that are really just excuses to party on a bike (which is what people want to do, myself included). We both know this ride isn't to raise awareness of traffic.
If you really want to party, call this ride
The Republican National Convention.

actually marcus, i think it is.
it's an earlier ride, so it'll be during rush hour while there are a lot of people on the roads. but really, do the two things have to be mutually exclusive? whenever we're on the roads we're spreading awareness--and if we look like we're having fun then we'll probably make an even bigger impact.
with that said, let's party.

these rides are from 7p-10p, not exactly rush hour. These things-fun & awareness- of course don't have to be exclusive, just dont call an apple an orange. If its called Critical Mass, I would think it has to represent that cause.
I see much more fun and umm, awareness from a ride called
The Republican National Convention. The first series can be called
Bush 08 and feature a slew of incredibly provocative and super-sexy overly-optimistic campaign antics. CRANK MOB in suits. On fire. Yes Men on bikes. Does anyone NOT see the potential here?

I'dve had to have left 1/2 an hour ago (when I woke up) to get there in time, and to be honest, my body aint in it for a 40+ miler tonight. I wanna be there, but public transit takes forever, and the 15 mile sprint it would take to get across town in anywhere close to on time is just gonna drain me.

hey i woke up thinking about this ride (dont ask) and had an idea.
For the next one and the future masses up till 08 election day, Republicanzz write speeches and read/perform them on the megaphone at each stop. Keep it to a time limit, and everyone gets a turn.
At least this would keep me interested in the ride, by nurturing/utilizing/advancing/exploding/unleashing my creative output into the minds and hearts of our nation's youth, whom I believe to be our most precious resource of all.

WHO ELSE WANTS TO WRITE/GIVE A SPEECH?? i think it would be hilarious and some sort of entertainment for stops...
i had an idea that if we had 5 people that wanted to do a speech, they come up with a spot somewhere in Venice they'd like to read it. Then the route would only consist of the speakers' stops and we wouldnt need to plan a route, and every ride could be different and interactive. anyone like that idea?

Okay, since I love to be sooooooo involved, but have my distant constraints, this is what I propose.
I turn that retarded, ferris-wheel, looking-thing into a giant-ass, trebuchet.
That way, I could launch party favors over the mountain range that separates the Boondocks from the "Westside-All-Nighter" zone.

hey, i'm not territorial, but i'm being forced to confront this philosophical/physiological condition and make a, make a, make a decision. BUT, it would be sweet if VCM makes there way towards LACM...then i can continue avoiding any evolutionary genetic/cultural confusion.
If not, will miss you all over there in the land of beaches. but, i say, let's get these cars off the mainland together!!!

LACM will probably do a quick rest stop at the Beverly Gardens Park on Santa Monica Blvd and Beverly Drive, probably between 9:30pm and 10pm That would be the perfect place to join with the Venice Critical Mass. Then we could do a "Circle of Death" in Beverly Hills together. We could ride around the area enmasse for a while, then the VCM can take off and return to the beach, while LACM can head back towards their start point.

Your suggested meetup is 5.5 miles from the start of LACM, and 8.5 from VCM. Not to be a buzzkill but VCM is sorta supposed to be a chill ride which replaces the chill of old skool SMCM. A lot of these beach people aren't really into 20 mile rides to Beverly Hills (necessarily along Venice Blvd.)
I'm down for the rides meeting up some time, but right now we've got a baby ride which needs some local love first. I'm bearish on the idea, especially if the younger ride is asked to go further than the older ride.

everybody got quit with this pre planning CM's. You got to let a critical mass, be a critical mass. The beauty of a CM is the spontaneous nature of them.

You bring up a valid point Alex, that may be too far for a Critical Mass easy ride. But it was some of the participants of the VCM who were calling for a meet-up/merge of the VCM and LACM.
Also by the time LACM winds its way up through Hollywood and down through the Fairfax district into Beverly Hills to the park , they will have covered 11.1345 miles.
