Randy was hit by a car on her way home from work today, she is ok, just got released from hospital with stitches on her cute head,

not randy!! i'm glad she came out with just a minor injury but i'm sad that it happened at all. getting hit sucks and that's why i'm afraid to start commuting to work. it seems to be happening more and more.

okay randy is okay. i was with her when it happened.
we were riding down Main st. We wanted to make a left turn so Randy got on the far left lane and the car behind her "didnt see her". she got hit from behind and smacked her head pretty hard on the ground. the driver tried to take off but a couple of people chased after him. a very nice guy called the police and ambulance. The ambulance took her to the hospital and I stayed behind to take a statement.
the guy lied to the cop saying that she was on the sidewalk. if she was on the sidewalk, she wouldnt have gotten hit right? anyways cops took down all is info. they got mine as well. i walked to the hospital with randys bike and mine. shes okay now. got a couple stitches.
Eric aka illafilla was nice enough to come pick her up at the hospital and give her a ride home.

nice as that sounds, this fuckin dickhead should absolutely spend time in jail for fleeing the scene of an accident and have his insurance skyrocket.
is there a way we can all contact the police agency to agitate or lobby that this fuckin asshole gets the book thrown at him? the more we can lobby and pester the powers that be to prosecute these prick bitch cowards to the fullest the safer we will be.

Not to sound like a naysayer, but don't be surprised if it's a long arduous task to try to get money out of this tard. And don't be surprised if there is no legal recourse, either.
Just be firm in your course of action, but be aware of the fact that there may come a point in time where you either have to let it go, or spend your entire life trying to get justice.

Yeah, if he has no insurance it'll be nearly impossible to collect. Unless they happen to be a good person (highly unlikely since they tried to flee) and feel guilty.
The reason I say this is because I know someone who was rear ended by a motor cyclist at a stop light. The rider was uninsured, carried no ID, and it was not even his motorcycle. The police refused to show up at the scene and basically told the car owner that she was shit out of luck and should start saving up money for repairs out of pocket. It happens a lot, and there are TONS AND TONS of uninsured motorists out there.

from what the cops told me, he tried to hide in a parking lot but he got kicked out because they told the guard some guy is trying to hide from a hit and run. the cops took down all his info and i think he does have insurance.
the cops also have 3 statements all of which match up. the driver told the cops a whole different story. from what the cops told me, randy can press charges.

okay so i just got a call from the police dept.
so the driver did not have a drivers licence but he did have insurance. hes car has been taken away from him and he will be fined for driving without a licence. hes insurance company will most likely have to pay for randys medical bills as well as a fine for giving insurance to an unlicenced driver.
also, its hard to say if it was a hit and run because he only drove about half a block away from where the accident took place. the cops were told that he was trying to hide in the parking lot so they are going to use that against him.
if anything else comes up, i'll post it up.

the officer said that he will be mailing randy a letter with the police report as well as the drivers insurance information. once she gets the letter, she should contact the insurance about paying her medical bills.

They should stick with the driver's story. Then have the cops ticket his ass for driving on the sidewalk and reckless endangerment to go along with hit and run. What kind of a moron hits someone and then claims the accident happened up on the sidewalk. Is it somehow legal to hit people on the sidewalk now?

Just saw miss Randy at O20. She was in good spirts, and fanshioned her hair to hide her "sharecut" and stitches.
Glad to see that you are OK, your bike is OK and that you made your ALC goal!

Hit and run is so prevalent in Los Angeles County that it seems that LAPD no longer even enforces this law. They take down info but if it's not spot on (meaning you have everything from make model of car to description of driver) I wouldn't expect them to do much.
Randy just got luck because this retard didn't run FAR enough...

Hey Everyone,
Sorry it took so long for me to get on a computer. Mine is broken at home and I couldnt really get to a library. I get dizzy spells with fast movements so I'm taking it easy for a couple of days.
Thank you everyone for your good energy and wonderful messages, they made me very happy. I love you guys very much, there is not other community like this, and I am very proud to be apart of it.
Long story short I got hit from behind while trying to switch lanes. Look twice before switching I guess can be the lesson learned it was clear one second, then a car came at me. My guess is he was trying to go around the car that was behind me. I scared the crap out of Miguel with the sound of my head hitting the pavement. I went to the hospital and got some stitches on my head, slight road rash on my lower back and a sore body.
My bicycle is okay... I think I probably will take it to a bike shop to get it properly checked out. It was also m shogun and not my Bianchi. My awesome snake skin bar tape did rip off though.
I do have to take it easy on a bike for now, but I will be back on that saddle hopefully by this weekend!

Seems like Enci, Stephen and gemelk know what to do. Randy et al - just follow through with each step of this, stay on the police to investigate, and things should work out. If they put a detective on it then you can just sit back and cruise. Consider hiring Forsythe to sue for damages - the Boxes can give you his number. The case seems so clear cut I doubt it will cost you a penny in the end.
