What was the first ride you went on? How long ago was this?
I remember mine, it was the Sins and Sprockets on April 17th of last year. I rode a woman's no, not even a woman's it was a girl's mountain bike. I had a blast, it changed everything for me. My second ride I went on was the blues brothers ride by Cruzz With Us, I remember my Ray Bans getting completely decimated that night by everyones wheels.

July 10, 2008- Bicykillers!
Met Lee, David, Jeff, and Jake. They were super nice and waited for me as I tried to make my crappy mountain bike move. I panicked for MR the next night and went out and bought a pair of slicks the next morning.

Crank-Mass.
December 2006 in Pasadena.
This was an ally cat race. I had no idea what I was getting into, but being competitive, I was game and had a great time.
I rode my mt. bike with slicks (my commuter bike) and the route was hilly, which slowed me down a little.
The guy I signed in with, Aaron, gave me my first spoke card, and I didn't know what it was for until several months later.
I came in 7th out of 14 riders who made it back to the finish line.

The No Ride in the valley, led by TallCans4TallBikes. It was all mellow and fun and then we got visited by the cops...after searching the 40 of us, one by one, the ride continued! As weird as that night was, I've ridden every weekend and many weekdays since.

I can't remember exactly.
I would try to catch the LACM when it would start in downtown (or was listed) I would try to get to the start if we didn't work to long when I worked in Beverly Hills. I would never get there on time and would get clowned by the bike messengers when I asked them about it. (no wonder I love messengers ).
This was in early 2005.
I went to westwood critical mass and it was just me and this other dude. We rode around for a hour and then parted ways.
My first real taste would be when I went to the BIKESUMMER kick off party on the Santa Monica Pier. I was real tired and was going to go home to sleep and thought I should take a look at this before I went home. I rolled up and never saw so many bikes parked in front of a public place in my life. Like they say at Burning Man I knew "I was home" I went into the party and saw everybody wearing Alec's bikesummer hat. I wanted one from him but he sold out already.
It was such a great party. Ditty Bops played along with triple chicken foot and I think Summer and Aurisha played also. Vegan Brian won a mountain bike.
What I have on record is the Shadow Battalions Pasadena Scavenger Hunt. My team won second place that was a blast. We cheated and got major extra points by get a sheriff to write one of our team members a bogus traffic citations saying we where going at a unsafe speed.
The first big ride was the MR The Cult Ride. I remember going down Sunset Blvd and we had the whole side of the street we where traveling on filled with bikes. There must have been 1000 ridazz that night. I was in love. I even had my Bikesummer Enthusiast Reward Program Card signed by Jimmy as Bicycle Messiah that night.
YES I wore all white that night.

Witnessed a gunpoint robbery (alone by myself in the store) & tomato getting hit by SUV on the way home. Random Friday night ride sometime in Feb of 08. Good times eh?!
Next was Feb LACM - rock city. I was hooked after that, but I was still a bit freaked out about my safety in certain parts of LA for months to come.

Technically it was riding around with Chicken Leather and Veronica who were strangers at the time, trying to find Sins and Sprockets sometime late 2007 or early 2008. Then my first first ride was May 31, 2008- Stuffed Animal ride. I don't think I met anyone until my second ride.

Los Feliz to USC to LACMA to Hollywood and back east.
26 miles on a 30+ lb folding bike with rear suspension, low gearing, and 20" wheels ... my legs hurt for 3 days after that.

mine was the glow ride MR. i dropped out real fast. those hills killed me. the first ride i finished was a sins and sprockets. i was soooo proud of myself. hahaha aw.

critical mass + bici cocina benefit in 2005 (???).
alex thompson was a cowboy, jeff had a lit up furry fixed gear, and I saw paul's band rage with "short arm of the law". also, I came with two guys that tried to sneak in with one bear suit.

OK, First group ride: Pedro's New England Mountain Bike festival, my first visit to the future, fall 1996, in Randolph Vermont. I went with my dad.
I went a couple times, the next year being the first time I ever rode a bicycle drunk, I was 14. I rode into a tree in the dark as I lacked good lights.
First social, non corporate-sponsored bike event: Boston Critical Mass, I think either 99 or 00, probably 2000 as I drove myself there, probably october as my memory of the foliage serves me, it was small, cold and wet, I got lost.
The I took a break for a while, my next CM was a Critical Mass/memorial ride in Sarasota florida, with over 800 riders, the memorial was for a popular student at New College (the other school in SRQ), and avid cycling advocate, who I had met only once through a friend. Still to this day the most emotional bike ride I have ever been on.
First LA ride, probably August of 2006, LBCM (at east this is what my spoke card collection tells me), couldn't find LACM as it was that period where it wasn't posted on CM's website, didn't know of MR, found about it that night, went to the next ride my work schedule let me, Cruzz with Us #2, the 50's ride, in the valley, where I met several people, the first one being SKELETOR aka Lil' Phillip, also met Sexy, Big Bike Dan, E.Hair (who is standing behind me in the very first photo of me on MR), User1, (also in the photo), Richie (who took the photo), Speedy Brian, Leo, SC Nomad (who gave me a ride home), and I'm sure there were others. I was in costume that night too, although being the fat shit I was at the time, I had stripped down to my tank top (in November) by the time we got to Que Rico's.

it was Los Angelopes on February 2, 2008. i remember this very well because i was told that we would only go as fast as the slowest bike. it was a night time ride on the westside and halfway through the ride, we rode past my apartment and i was sooooooo tired, i bailed.
but i came back for C.R.A.N.K. MOB two weekends later!

That looks like the Halloween '05 LA Critical Mass. We stopped at a warehouse for an afterparty and there were gold sprints and dancing? A bear and a cat had a wrestling match at the start of the ride. I was definitely a cowboy and Jimmy Lizama wore that outfit made of bike tires.

First ride RIDAZZ SELL OUT!!!
Dak and Borfo had been going on rides for a while and they would borrow this shitty target magna glacier point that my friend gave to me so at the time the bike went on more midnight ridazz rides than i have. we had a party for dak's birthday and we left half of the people at the house to go on midnight ridazz. i had never ridden the bike before and hadn't ridden since i was a kid on a single speed coaster brake "bmx-ish" bike. i basically just jumped on the bike and rode! it was rad! i was hooked instantly. twas sore though.
this is from my second ride i think? pizza for the mafia.

My first group ride was a SM critical mass in I believe May of 2007.
First Midnight Ridazz was the Dada ride which I rode on a huge cruiser. It was hilarious going up/down the hills downtown and not being able to change gears.

I had recently moved from New Jersey to Cali and my bike had just been delivered a week before. I put it together excited to finally be able to ride again. Never knew I would meet such a group of wonderful people while walking home from work. I spotted the group at the 7-11 on tujunga and magnolia and asked what was going on... They said it was a bar hop on bikes?!?! Awesome... I was back there with my bike in minuites and the rest is history I suppose :o)
That night I met Brian (speedy), Al (digable), Al (user1), Louis and Charlie of Sins... also Dak and Dingo helped put air in my tire, so if you see this thanks again for that!

Driving at 2am looking for edibles I ran into Crank Mob at albertson Sept'08. Parked my car, got out, saw everyone dancing next to the crazy colored RV, so I started dancing with everyone , and found out what the whole scene was about.
The following Tuesday, I joined up with Taco Tuesday. My back wheel is a testament to XL's spoke cards.

January 2006, the Friday the 13th ride. #25 (new M.R. ride numbering system)
I rode my 1968 schwinn cruiser and was the last in the whole pack with my girlfriend. it was a short ride at about 13 miles which ended somewhere in atwater at someone's house i think....we rode back to the start around 1am and kept seeing other ridazz along the way going back as well...That part of it was fun as we had found something that we knew we would be a part of for a long time to come.
