Who does this ride on a regular basis?
reply
Before the new year, I was riding it at least once a week if not more. It's a fun little climb.

I still need to hit this.
I hear a lot about it, but nothing compares to whipping the beast itself.

i generally don't need to bike through the sepulveda pass, but whenever i do, i get through it fairly quick and i'm always surprised when I realize I'm almost over the hill.
Going down from either side is a total blast!

i still think its the easiest way into the valley and end up doing it 2-3 times a week. Junu i know does some type of route over the hill every fucking day

I wouldn't want to come out of the valley through there, but my favorite way to go over the hill from the westside is definitely Franklin Canyon.

There was a road race there pre 405 days.
I often finish my coast rides with a push over the pass, It's a good route with minimal lights and a shoulder. It is possible for a fit rider to big ring it the whole way to the tunnel on both sides.
Traffic might become a problem when the car pool lane construction starts on the 405.
Make sure to push the button that starts the flashing light at the tunnel.

i do it once/twice a week, whenever i feel lazy, and don't feel like starting a climb at crescent heights. its the easiest way home. get rid of the climb early on, and from van nuys to noho its a downgrade.

Fuck that blinky light, it's so beyond useless. I just turn on my blinky, at least that way I don't have to stop, get off my bike, and dig around in the bushes on the last 50 yards of the climb.
That one was SUCH a big accomplishment for the LADOT.

I've ridden it exactly once. It wasn't too bad. I just have no reason to go to the valley.

sepulveda sucks my asshole after a night of partying.
I rode home over sepulved after VCM because no buses were running

oyy jeff, you know the 156 runs 24 hrs on santa monica and highland and actually operates to van nuys and burbank..
i used to take cahuenga home after party rides, and i used to think that sucked.
is it just me or does cahuenga seem like a little bump in the road nowadays?

the 656 takes me to 91402, but I was in Venice.
getting to Highland is too much out of the way, and riding home is faster than the bus

Man I sure would like to see some maps of these routes to Fluffaville. That one going through Franklin Canyon sounds awesome.
I also don't have a clue where this tunnel is you guys are talking about.

I wish we had more, epic hills up here like the ones y'all deal with down there.
Instead, we just have rolling mounds that basically tear you down with unending repetitiveness.

It is. I love to take my 4 wheel drive up there and run over all the trees.
"I also don't have a clue where this tunnel is you guys are talking about."
It's at the top of the Sepulveda pass so the road doesn't have to go all the way over the top of the hills.

Hey, has anyone ridden up in the neighborhoods to the right of the Supulveda pass (assuming going north towards the valley?). I wouldn't mind finding a nice work-out loop that goes up supulveda, then cuts right around Sunset, then up to, say, Roscomare, follows that to Mullholland, then cross the freeway and down back down to the west side. It wouldn't be a super long ride, but it might be a good hill training ride. I'm thinking Belagio to Roscomare.

That blinky light doesn't sound like such a bad idea, Sarah.
All we got to do is just have someone go up there with a machete and some root-killer, then voila'!!!
The button is there for all to see!!

Here is a route of a ride I did that includes both Supulveda and Franklin Canyon.
Franklin Canyon is a great ride (except for that short super super steep part when entering the park.)

Yeah, I used to commute from Sherman Oaks to Culver City. I'd take Scadlock or Cody straight up, they were bitches without a warmup, I lived right off of Valley Vista at the bottom of Woodcliff.

Cool, thx guys. If I'm doing a fit-ride, I usually ride over to Mandeville cyn, and go up and down once. But i need new options, so I'll check some of that stuff out.
I did a loop around there a few times with the Sunday La Grange roadies. It's good except it's at 8 AM on Sunday and the roadies are mad fast, splitting up and dropping everyone as soon as they start the climb. I'd rather do a F.U.N. ride the night before and sleep in, nurse hangover.
