Sign up for race starts at 1pm (Teams or Individuals)
Race @ 2PM
Start : Echo Park Lake.
The idea for this race is to get as FAR from the starting point as you can in 45 min! This does not necessarily mean that the team or person who rides the most miles is the winner! Start planning your routes NOW!!! =)
Once the timers go off, racers must stop and text their location to the operators who will be standing by! Once a winning team or individual is determined, we will all meet up for celebrations and awards ceremony!
** Note: Teams will use the location of the rider closest to the start.

nice idea. how does one verify that someone isn't cheating. I could say i'm in San Pedro or someplace. how do we verify? And not everyone has a camera phone.

whoever gets the furthest from echo park in 45 min. wins the race! (furthest in a straight line... not the actual millage of their route)

you win by staying at the lake and locking your bike to a tree. then you do a few hits of windowpane and you will be so far away from everything and everyone.

another idea to mark the stopping points is to cameraphone it, it worked on the Cubcamp Fantom 40, which of course ruled the nation.

fine. cheetas!! Camera phone verification WILL be required. If you don't have a camera phone then you'll have to be on a team!! Besides, the awards ceremony and PARADE to C.R.A.N.K mob after the race, where we chant the winners name(s) would have to make you feel like a total chaod if you were to lie about winning.. ;P please don't cheat!

nichole, why don't you also, as programmer of this ride, get the names of everyone who wants to be involved a few days before the race, and randomly draw names of teams...i think that would make things more interesting than if people picked teams themselves. I could help. I'll be your vanna!

v-span! That's an interesting idea! I dunno though... I'd be pissed if I got someone on my team who didn't really care about winning one of the coolest prizes EVER, and then we lost. People should pick their own teams. Borfo...we can't piss on Alex Thompson, that's exactly what he wants us to do!!

If I were to get involved in this, I'd want to find an abandoned, hospital.
Find where the doors are big enough to ride through and use that as part of my route.
Anyone follows me through, I'll sick the "wheelchair-ghouls" one them!!!

I'm trying to get an idea of how many people are planning on racing... sooo if you think you might, post for yourself or your team (include how many on yr team) if ya can... i'm making spokecards =) otherwise I'll make zillionzz!! BTW.... it's SO nice out today and it's going to be even more beautiful tomorrow! Count on being out ALL DAY!!

I think i'm gonna be at the beach getting waysted (i.e. pier pressure)... however since this starts a couple hours earlier (just enough time) well, i could use this as an excuse to ride to the beach and get waysted... team going to pier pressure!

I'll mainly be loading bikes onto an, as-of-yet, unknown rental car.
Then I'll have to put in four hours at work and then make sure everyone I'm taking along meets up at the right location.
One friend lives 3 miles from me, another one lives 7 miles to the south, and then my younger brother lives 10 miles away near the Pilot truckstop on the 15.
A wholesome afternoon/night of amateur logistics for me!!!
Not to mention this will probably be the only time you'll see all these guys on a bicycle.

Awesome! Spectators show up at the park at 1:00pm and The race and the party will start shortly after... Fuzz you could ride to the beach from echo park in 45 min and possibly win a prize!!! BTW I saw you ride by my work and not stop to say hi! :P OK GUISE! I *should* have enough spoke card for ALL of you!
