Was I right?

I did it!! After 10 yrs, I quit my job in the middle of a recession with no job on the back burner. Many of you know how dedicated I was to this job and it was really hard to make this decision but I had to do it .It felt right. it feels right.
I respectfully quit based on my principles and ethics. It used to be a great job and decent paid but when should one say enough? When should one stand for beliefs and for others that were nothing but a number? The politics, the politics. When should you really mean what you say and follow with action?
I was coping but they finally asked me to move to another department, reason that I had no issue with. But don’t patronize me by asking me to report to another employee whom has a lower rank, lower pay and tell me that I need to train them in all I know and put me in a spot to fail. No fault to him. You cannot train / teach self-responsibility , initiative , hard work ethic, substance and how to genuinely connect to others. I asked them to reconsider.
I could not respect myself if I do compromised my principles.
I dedicate my decision to my daughter , to all those whom always thought about standing up and breaking away.To those that have lost their individuality only to find that a bad economy turns you into a statistic.You can still grasp your own destiny on hopefully, just hopefully , end up a greater person in the long run.
BTW – I maybe hitting you up for random dinner,cup o noodles or a job would be good…Ahhh!!

Good work Dee. Sounds like you did the right thing. Cup O' Noodles on me anytime! (I like Top Ramen better though)

In the meantime though, indeed.com is THE place to find jobs, as it puts a lot of the other job sites all in one handy search.
You did the right thing. Don't panic, apply for unemployment (who knows, you might get it), and find a new job ASAP.
What kind of work are you looking for? Someone here might know someone who knows someone.

This is how i felt when I quite my Debit card fraud investigator postion. Fuck WAMU. Although I really really miss the huge pay checks.

By the way, it's also very respectable that you dedicate your decision to your daughter, to show the right way of doing things. My dad did a lot of things like that for me when I was younger, even now, and I definitely have to say it's shaped me to be a better person.

My field was IT Senior Project manager , Call Center Manager , Operations Project Manager..Although I dont put myself in a category box....

I know the feeling. I've gone through something similar a few times and not once did I hesitate to do what I felt was the right thing. My peace of mind comes before anything and my faith always gets me through everything else.
If I should come across any new positions at my job (SCOI - southern california orthopedic institute) I'll gladly post it up here.

You may not want to do this.
Your resignation letter should probably read:
Dear ______:
I hereby resign my position as ___________ with __________.
Sincerely,
_________
If there really are unethical things occurring, TALK about them with the relevant parties, but keep the paper trail as clean as possible so things don't haunt you in your next job. Doing it as a parting shot is unlikely to change their practices, or make you look like a professional.

Not to piss in anyones river, but is job-hopping becoming the next, cool thing to do?
I guess after still not getting over being let-go from a job I loved so much, I find this new activity to be ackward and disturbing at the very least.
Yeah, it's your life and you choose how to live it, but it's the glamorization that makes it hard to stomach.
I'm glad to be working right now, I tend to become more irritant than normal when I'm not doing anything to keep income flowing.
That's just how I roll anyway.

I fully believe that in these tough times employees are being treated worse than I've ever seen in my 37 years as part of the workforce. At some point you need to stand up for your dignity, even if it costs you. Hopefully, we'll live to see the tide turn.

Thanks Rollers..Im hoping to see the tide turn also.Because of the financial situation and lay offs, many turned into survival mode.Even at the top.They figure its lay off,cut down or be cut..Its crazy.
