Thread Box:
First Ride Need Advice
Thread started by icarus at 10.8.10 - 1:29 pm

I'm looking at buying my first fixed gear bike. My gf just got one and I rode around, I love how it feels and the connection I have with the bike.

But, I need advice. I can't afford something pricey right now for my starter bike, but I have a few in mind. Eventually if I really like it I'll go all out on the bike, but I'm just starting out and I want a good quality bike for the cash I have.

I'm not into doing tricks, just riding and I don't think I could do a trick if I tried.

My choices are below, if anyone could help me decide I would appreciate it so much.

I might be able to afford this if I save a bit more:

or a retrospec

Thanks for anyone's help

Maybe if someone can give me like a

Choice 1
Choice 2
Choice 3

thing that would help even more.

Thanks again Ridazz! Hope to see you all at LACM at the end of the month!

If you can, save up for the Kilo TT. I've ridden a Windsor Hour, a Republic (Urban Outfitter's Bike, hah) and my fixie beater is an SE Draft. Compared to those 3, the Kilo's frame is worlds nice/lighter. At that $279 price they're all super similar. The deciding factor for me might be the pedal body... the Motebecane 'might' come with a plastic body one which I guarantee is going to need replacing quicker than anything metal, China made or not.

You may also want to try using the "SEARCH" icon above and type in 'fixie' as thread posts.

You might find some interesting deals and other helpful information to help build around around a fixie frame or bike.
