hey guys.. nice ride last night.. i had to jump bail after we started the climb up sepulveda.. i was struggling really hard to go up and eventually my body gave up and i wasn't sure why cause i had done that climb before... my friend bryan pointed out that my rear tire looked flat.. yeah.. it was flat.. lol.. so we just biked back to where we started, sorry if anyone waited for us and we never showed at the next regroup

2 nite: 2 incredible happenings:
1: The huge Perseid meteor shower is starting around 10pm tonight and since there's no moon tonight it'll be a great show. If we want to see it we should ride away from the city (think Mulholland Hwy past Kanan, I've watched from there before, or North of Santa Clarita).
2: It's Downtown Artwalk tonight with food trucks galore!
I don't know of a way to hit both without doing a century.

It's like 8 miles of climbing from 6-11+%. You'd need to be pretty manly to finish the climb on a single speed

The route is an out and back, so we are coming down the way we came. It is am 8 miles climb, but the first half is pretty mellow with a few rollers. The decent is not bad, but a few tight turns you definately should slow down for.
Gears would be appropriate for this ride, but not mandatory.
Lights are needed this week.

Woohoo! This is a great cycling week for me. Finished WPH for the first time on Monday, Wednesday is a nice climb with TRFKAS, and Thursday will be Little Tujunga.

Is the whole 8 mile grade the sort of ascent that G Park Observatory is? That run is 2.8 from the bottom of the climb. Dan and I did that run twice, back to back plus the climb on the other side on Sunday, so if the grade's not HELLA worse than that, I think I can handle it...I'll just be slower on the ascent than the rest of the geared maniacs - and I'm freewheel, so the downhill isn't a problem. :)
I'll get to the ride earlier to be sure I map out where it's going so I can catch up (and NOT get lost this time on the climb). ;)
Looking forward to seeing everyone for the impending suffering...

the climb up little t is a hill, then a downhill, then we regroup at the top of the second climb, which is fire camp nine. then we turn around and go downhill, then back up hill, and then downhill once more. so its not really eight miles of straight climbing.

Stay tight and to the right on Little T ... should be quiet at night but riding that road scares the crap out of me. Zero margin for error.
Top of the first climb is 'Dillion Divide' which is great parking spot for Mtn Biking into the forest.

We are doing the route that I had planned for last week this week. We are riding up Fryman Canyon to Mulholland, then taking that till it ends at dirt Mulholland. I have not decided yet if we are going to hit the big descent down to the valley, or if there are other surprises to follow. You will have to show up.
And going forward: If you plan a route and then not show up, then.....

i got a route. 30 miles. lots of hills. farthest north is just south of hansen dam. farthest south is glendale. donut prince donuts afterwards. or sweet potato fries from tonys darts away. i got new pedals and shoes and i want to put them to good use.
