UNICYCLE Ridezz... Who's down for this?

Thread started by

Any MR people interested in unicycling? A cheap unicycle can be had on Craigslist at any time...
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/search/?areaID=7&subAreaID=&query=unicycle&catAbb=sss
And if some of you get yerselves a unicycle, I'll do a "Ridezz" at CM park to teach all of you the basics on how to ride.
The average "fit" person can learn the wheel in about 4 hours. That's all, easy!

a few questions:
Does it have brakes?
how long will it take for an "un-fit" person to learn
Can I do barspins?
Do you have one with arrowspokz
Where to I put my top tube pad?
will it hurt my vagina (because you don't have a penis if you ride a uni sorry)

Can I do barspins? YES, I CAN SPIN IT TO AS MANY BARS AS YOU WISH IN ONE NIGHT
Do you have one with arrowspokz MIGHT HAVE ONE WITH AERO SPOKES. WHAT, DO YOU GET YOUR WHEELS FROM INDIAN GHOSTS?
Where to I put my top tube pad? INSERT IT TO PREVENT VAG PAIN (SEE NEXT ANSWER)
will it hurt my vagina YES, IF YOU DON'T HAVE PROTECTION (SEE PREVIOUS ANSWER)
And in the future, please avoid mentioning my penis and your vagina in the same post... what will people think?
WFT... I guess I should have said "SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY"... lol

I have a uni gathering cob webs. It was my daughter's 10 years ago, but she lost interest. I'd love to learn how to ride it, but I'm too far away to join the training on the west side.
I think I will start practicing (there must be how-to videos on Youtube) and work up to doing a future chill ride on it.

Niiice... Do you know what size the wheel is on the cobweb uni?
I wrote a "TOP 10 REASONS TO MASTER THE ART OF RIDING THE WHEEL" at http://betterfly.com/WheelDancer/blog/2801/top-10-reasons-to-master-the-art-of-riding-the-wheel but that's basically useless come to think of it.
Better yet, my UNICYCLING BASICS blog entry might help you...

Good luck... can you post back here on your progress?

Oh, and remember, about 90% of your energy is completely wasted on flailing body parts when you're learning. All this means is that learning will WORK YOU TO THE CORE but it's not nearly as exhausting once you learn.

No.
Put it to your vagina.
Not if you put it to it gently. (because you don't have a bike or a penis, sorry)

Uni-Ridazz - YES!
I've been riding for about 5 months and doing mountain uni (muni) for the last four of them. A street 29'r is in my future but I can move along pretty well on the 24" muni.
And, yes, unicycling will work you to the core - all the places where bicycling doesn't!

I've been doing the urban nightridezz for a couple months now... 36'er. Are you on unicyclist.com Namlak?
Anyhow, one of the other unicyclist.com guys has been coming on his 29'er. Unless you're a master spinner (150rpm plus) it's brutal to keep up with the nightridazz.
If you have a 24" muni, why not jump to 36 for the road?
Here's a coker 36'er I just saw today... aluminum frame for $200... http://baltimore.craigslist.org/bik/2328837013.html

Hey Dances... I mostly troll on unicyclist.com - I think I only have one post regarding LA muni trails.
I think a 36'r will just be too unwieldy to transport, etc. I'm thinking a 29'r with 125's would be pretty good and something I can keep in the trunk of the car and ride when I get the opportunity - and maybe still take on gentle hills without feeling like I'm trying to go up a wall.
Of course, a geared hub on the 29'r would be ideal but $$$$!

Dude... yeah, I feel ya re: space for the big wheel. I ride my 36'er with either 137 cranks or 125's and have ALWAYS been still riding even when some 2-wheelers are walking it.
Anyhow, when you get your 29'er, come out for some ridezz... try the fmly ride next month, or definately cicLAvia in July, and any number of weeklies they show here (Taco Tuesday, or Ride with No Name for example).

I'll be getting the 29'r at the end of June and will be out of town for Ciclavia (Grrr, missed this month's too because of a schedule conflict) so I'll have to see what rides pop up after that. I'll look you up, maybe we can meet up at a ride, then I'll have at least one other uni rider to ride with!
Good to know that the 29'r will climb well with 125's. I have 165's on the 24" muni and I climb everything I can - it's an awesome compliment to the workout the MTB gives me, all intervals and tons of core/trunk.
