Police were searching Thursday for a driver who struck and killed a teenager riding his bike in Canoga Park, authorities said.
The 17-year-old was on his bicycle in the far right lane of De Soto Avenue near Valerio Street about 9 p.m. Wednesday when a motorist believed to be driving a gray Toyota Corolla struck him from behind, said Officer Rosario Herrera, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victim, who was not identified, died at the scene, Herrera said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division at (818) 644-8034 or (818) 644-8032.

This is terrible. Please be safe out there.
I use a six-foot tall orange safety flag on my bike, I rarely have cars ride close to me because of it, so maybe it's helping. I don't know, but it gives me some extra peace of mind and room on my left.
I got it at Athena Cycle, 11740 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91614 (818) 761-0784
Here is a pic. (I don't notice any difference in drag with it on or off. )

These deaths are all so senseless. When can we expect to see some separated/protected bike lanes in LA like they ones they just installed in OC?

There four of ridding last night around that time in that area last night. When are people going to stop treating like roadkill? Everyone keep a look out for that car, lets catch that a-hole!
