Novak hits Pedestrian
He was than chased down by a cyclist who put his bike in front of him and wouldn't let him by.
He was cited and let go what bullshit.

I saw some coverage of this on TV. It's being blown way out of proportion. He admits what he happened and stated that he didnt know he hit someone. The "Victim" was only very slightly injured. Probably just grazed and not hit at all "movie Style"
Probably both parties are guilty of not paying attention but jesus..... look both way when you cross., if you ride a bike you know to watch for cars doing incorrect manuevers. NEXT STORY PLEASE!

I don't get why its bullshit to cite Novak and send him on his way. I'm about as law & order as anybody gets, but since when do we put people in jail for traffic accidents?

Actually the latest development is that the victim may require surgery, and was hit pretty hard. According to the cyclist who witnessed it:
"There was a pedestrian splayed on his windshield -- I don't think there is anyway you can miss that"

Wishing a brain tumour on anyone is pretty low class, folks. I saw the same kind of attitude from my conservative friends when Kennedy made his announcement last month. This is tragic news for Novak, his friends, family, and given his role in the public discourse (for good or ill), it is likely to have repercussions on all of us. Celebrating the potential of a fatal illness in someone else is pretty fucking shitty.

And for the record, I doubt very much that this is some kind of retarded legal strategy. Novak was not at significant risk of sanction due to the 'accident.' He surely has sufficient liability coverage between his vehicular and personal liability insurance. And there's almost no chance he'd get away with it since any plaintiff or prosecutor is going to demand independent confirmation of the condition if he tries to use it as a get out of jail free card.

Leaving the seen of hit and run is pretty shitty too. Yeah I know two wrongs don't make a right, but I like to view it more as karma.
I also don't remember Kennedy doing anything near what this asshole did. And his defense is he didn't see the ped? I ain't buying it!

Yeah, seriously, talk to some conservatives about anything a Republican politician has done wrong, and sooner or later they'll be like "but... but, Chappaquiddick!" It's like the right-wing trump card for deciding which party is more moral. For those not keeping score, here's a hint: they all suck.
Anyway, yeah, Robert Novak's a rotten asshole for the hit and run, and he was a rotten asshole for a long time before that. But what's the point of wishing pain and suffering upon someone for their lack of compassion? Isn't there some irony in that? I hope Novak gets what's coming to him in court, but I hope he recovers from the tumor. Scratch that. I hope the tumor eats away the center of dark evilness that clearly pulsates at the center of his brain and causes him to make restitution to all the people he has wronged over the years.
