Avast ye and cast thine earward direction yonder!
Through the forces that be, magic, and a dash of pixie dust, Lauren and I, Atom, will be pulling together an art show...
AND WE ARE LOOKING FOR ARTISTS!
THIS INCLUDES:
Painting, Photography, Design, Spoken Word, Sketches, Sculpture, Video, Performance Art, Music (bands and DJs too!) and anything else you could (within a reasonable world) consider art!
The show will be at
Ghetto Gloss and the theme/title is:
SOULSTICYCLE: Art inspired by soul, summer and bicycles.
Playing off the Soulstice (solstice) aspect, the show will be
June 20th, 2009,as we celebrate the return of longer days of swimmin in the creek, playin stickball, pickin posies, catchin frogs, fishin, and ridin bikes till mom calls you in fer supper.
Soooooooo basically we want to make this
EPICLY EPIC.
SAMPLES OF ART NEEDED.
If you would like to be in the show, please email 3 jpgs of artwork you have created that exemplify your style.
IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE NEW ART. You can start creating for the show now, but we just need some idea of the style of artwork people are wanting to submit.
BUT I NEED THE SAMPLES ASAP.

P.S. We will also need some poeple to help coordinate with a possible ride leading to the show and some hands on deck at the show itself. If anyone wants to be behind the lights, please contact us as well through the above email.

@ theladiesman the art we're accepting for possible spots has to do w/ bikes, summer or soul. so if you are a good artist in gerneral i'm sure you could leave the script behind and do something sick. graffiti artists have some of the best line weight variation techniques i've seen so far. imagine if u took that style and painted a sick ass bike that way. it would be amazing.

exactly! as an artist you really shouldn't limit yourself to one thing. get good at the techniques and carry them on to something else so you can learn more and be a better artist.

We will be taking submission until April 6th, 2009. That's three (3) weeks. Art, music, video, live performances, photography, graphic design, spoken word and anything else you might consider art.
As soon as we choose the artists, we will let them know so they can start to prepare themselves with over 2 months till the show.

Greetings! We have received so many great submissions for the art show. While we'd like to have every artist in our show we had to consider a few options, one being the size of the gallery space. We also took into consideration the style of the artist in relation to the theme of the show. Whew! It was a really hard decision, but we narrowed our artists to the following:

The show will feature painting, mixed media, sculpture, prints, illustration, photography, video art, and a painted bike frame from special guest artist
Aaron Kraten
Music, alcohol, and FUN will be present.
We will be contacting the artists directly for more information.
