let me just say that this place is ALIVE. the streets are alive with people walking biking scooting bussin crussin and driving. yet many times it's so calm and quiet that a muffled scooter can be heard whizzing past, people talking.... funny thing is the chaos of the streets has an order I am not familiar with. I almost died and took David Lovering with me as he sat on my bike rack dutch style WHEW!
today we are headed out to Brussels with the Pixies as part of the entourage... by train! people are so free here to move and be anywhere.... no traffic jams in sight.

it's bedtime over there in ridazz land huh? it's the afternoon over here at a coffee haus in Haarlem. I rode here on my classic dutch bike rental. WHEW. 30km against the fucking wind. wow. a work out. my elbow is still tender.
The barista here is saying some CRAZY shit in dutch. she is laughing and saying excitedly passionate jokes, thoughts, ponderments, sound effects. outrageous. 2 customers she is talking to are laughing their asses off. I have no idea what the fuck they are saying but I am laughing too. it sounds like "huu yarrrin kloppf coooondarrrrrrrrrrbin harrrrrbib ooohben.... pffffft cuuuuuh haroon bealling veellin garbe moseettsich yarr en bersallles fut gestuuupkmnet...blubblublbublublubooobej"

Sweet. How long will you be in amsterdam?
I'll be there on wednesday. I'm helping my gf find an apartment there before her class starts at UvA.
Thankfully if the plane tickets go below $900 roundtrip from LAX to AMS, i'll be chill.
But i'd wish it was nice when I went to Milan at $550 round trip from LAX at the start of this year. Even if it was on Dickcheese Delta Airlines.

Too bad man I'm heading back on Tuesday. The weather out here is chilly so bring a good warm rain resistant coat. It has been mostly sunny with some random clouds and short bursts of drizzle. It's like Hawaii but the arctic version. You will have a great time!

That's quite a journey. I don't know about french roadways but once you get to Holland the signage is very clear. You won't need a map much. The signs are Elat every major junction. There are red signs and green signs. The green signs indicate a scenic route. The red signs indicate a direct route. The entire country is accessible by bicycle and to get anywhere you just follow the signs. Beware of the winds coming from the north. Those are a killer.
I just rode from Amsterdam along the east coast to the island of Marken. So so so beautiful and simple the Dutch life. The way they've laid out the roads is so intelligent. They hide the car way down low and they raise the fietspad (bike path) up above so you have this beautiful view of the surroundings. It's surreal. It makes no sense how practically every meter of this place is so well kept and planned.
From marken I took a ferry to volderdam and Edam then cycled along the scenic route over to zaanstad. I will post pics soon. I rode through some tiny towns. Had a bier or three with some locals. Laughed and cried. Well o got misty eyed everytime I spoke to people about how beautiful their country is.

yeah depending on what info i can find about the wind may want to start in amsterdam and ride back down to paris. looking to do the ride in early november, assuming i get the time to compile a good route. have a good rest of your trip :)

"the homie" was right. I am still Considered above average tall but at theconcert here I noticed the crowd was on average much taller than I'd ever seen before. Yet they drive small cars and the buildings are small and compact.

You can do the city of Amsterdam in a day but the country would take a lot longer. Really, the city is still fairly spread out. It would take a couple days. Start saving some money meow meow. That goes for everyone. You have to witness it once in your life.

RB! I'll join you next time. The Netherlands are only a 6 hour flight from me, and in the same time zone. And luckily, there's a direct flight between Lagos - Amsterdamn. I can come for a long weekend.

I'm in Amsterdam and so far all is chill. The Dutch bikes are hard to pedal though. It's like this odd 9 gears to work with 3 gears in the front wheel, but I managed it out by thinking i'm not on my road bike and i'm just riding it through the Overtoom to the Dam.
I will tell you that the pancakes here are fucking awesome. So fuck the International House of Pancakes, the shit is all here with a bowl of molasses on the table and there's even this resturaunt where they can add mozzarella, pesto, and mushrooms on your pancakes. Fucking awesome.
What I don't like is the disco here which is all house and deep trance. Good lord this shit is as bad as listening to Lady GaGa covering Sum 41.
I'll be back in L.A. on wednesday.
