Correct me if I am wrong but are cops giving tickets to anyone for not wearing a helmet? I thought it was just for those under 18.. My coworker just came in all pissed off that he got ticketed for not having a helmet.

believe it or not the cop had no idea what he was doing and should probably start looking for a job he might be good at... Parking structure security maybe?

Stupid cops who don't know what the hell they are doing just love to hassle cyclists. Helmet law is strictly for under 18 crowd and if co-worker was of age, than he should fight ticket which he will win no contest, officer was 100% dumb ass.

Trial by declaration is the easiest, although you do have to cough up the money first, and then the city will hold on to it for two months after you win. if you can talk to his supervisor about tearing up the ticket, it may be worth it. otherwise, you're out a few hundred dollars for about 6 months.

Can you get the citing officer's name, badge number and particular division so we can keep track of the cops that need some extra bike law training?
A scan of the citation (with your coworker's personal info blacked out) would also be great.
