Hey guys how do early 1980s bianchi frames measure up to height? I'm 5"10 with an inseam of 32 Would a 54cm or a 57 cm fit me best? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

54 will probably be better. 54 cm in the 80's is still 54 cm in 2009.

not true
because frame size typically measures BB to seatpost
and top tube sizes have changed considerable, especially with geometries.
but yeah at 5'10" 54 sounds right, probably because having that exact fit wont even matter to you

i remember back in the 80s i used to be able to get 2.54cm for every inch. Now i'd be lucky to get .0278 yards for my inch

theres no way to tell unless you get a fit or you try it out

I have an early 80's Bianchi Roadbike and it is 54 cm square. Meaning the measure from the BB to the top tube along the seatpost is same as as the measure of the toptube.

Man ...this is getting complicated... I have a NORCO bike frame and its 55 cm ...seems to fit perfect but I'm just not sure if the geometry of the Bianchi will be about the same...

when in doubt, go for the smaller frame. you can always put a taller seatpost or a longer stem on later, but if it's too big for you, youre fucked.

Measure the top tube from the middle of the seatpost to the middle of the headtube. Then measure from the middle of the BB to the intersection of the seatpost and the toptube. Take those numbers since the Bianchi roadbike frame I have is 54cm for both lengths.

Thanks sc_nomad and everyone else who gave me info. I decided to go with the 54 cm if a 55 cm pops up i'll grab the 55 cm.

junu the top tube length is rarely the actual length of the top tube. they are referring to the distance from the seatpost to the headset
