all that shit talking and AT melts a big old steamy dookie in ijunes watering mouth! Did you smell? AT was farting in your face the whole way up! Jajajajaj chew slowly so as to properly digest!
I knew my only chance was on the first false flat mile. Tried to take the lead but as soon as the steep sections came around, I was in trouble. AT kept good form all the way up which was the most discouraging. couldn't figure out when i wanted to attack and made the wrong moves at the wrong times. the gorilla chase was epic. AT raced himself, paced and raced well. I was racing AT and was battling it out in my head. by the time we got to nicada being no more than 4-5 bike lengths behind, i hit my point. finished 30-40m behind AT but the last half mile is arguably the hardest.
that was fun though, and i would love more grudge matches. anybody else?
Junu rode a good race - pushed it hard all the way to the top. His bike is maybe 3 lbs lighter, but I have the 26 tooth climbing gear to his 39, and I think that's a much bigger advantage than the weight.
Riding that first fast section I nearly got my eye poked out by Junu's huge calfs. Serious, those things are monsters. I would not challenge Junu to a drag race.
Aww, how cute! Congratulations to both of you, At for winning and Junu for keeping up- I think we can all agree that wouldn't have been the case 6-8 months ago.
Don't just call me out for riding a triple, call me out for riding a 26/36/46 triple. I mean, it's practically a mountain triple. Plus, totally stupid of me, but I paired it with the smallest Campy cluster available - the 11-23. Dur! You can read about it's dubious construction here.
After you're done with that I'm gonna point out that all of you running 52/13 or better for your top setup basically never need that gearing unless you
a) can't spin above 75 rpm
b) draft 40 roadies down a mountain with a gail behind you.
c) draft Eddy Merckx and his twin brother on a tandem trying to set a new tandem hour world record
so basically by having a 52 with a tiny cog you are saying "look at me, I waste my gears and think I'm a lot faster than I am" or, alternatively, "I bought the standard gruppo or didn't change anything on this bike in a logical way". The latter is a legit thing to say, while the former is kind of what you are saying.
i usually ride 53-17 and spin well over 100 and is my standard gearing for criteriums, my lowest is a 53/12 which i use on descents and still manage to spin well over 120 rpm. maybe i should raise my biggest cog like those hyperjump cogs, because i dont use the very first gear unless its a steep climb.
bickering about gear ratios is like complaining sword length regulation in a duel.
I will race you mitch. But in light of your champion whining and excuse manufacturing. I have to preface this grudge match by telling you that I only race on tricycles in the granny gear... I hope that's not too much of an advantage in your eyes. :)
yay AT! you dids it!
buy yourself a bag of jelly beans (starburst kinds) start eating them, and in between munchings say "sincerely, from, hanako"
you da best.
that is so perfect !!a damn gorilla next to this froot loops guy while he tries to explain his gear ratio out of this fucked up mess he got his ass into!if im not mistaken ,i was the first to ever say that i couldnt wait to race this guy,its buried in these threads somewhere.i say we see how many other drunk crank mobers kick this guys ass!!!
okay...without the distractions (well the good, endearing, awesome distractions...which shouldn't really be called distractions) who are my friends in LA, and the lack of drinking regularly, brings my situation to a point where I am faster at long distances. Currently, I ride my bike every day, just like before. But, I ride by myself...and I compete with myself, almost every day. So...I am in better shape than I have been before. I wouldn't call out AT or e-rock for a climb. But, I think I might be able to manage the proposed ride. Anyways, you two guys have the advantage of 'hills to ride', whereas the biggest hills in my area are the two causeway bridges that connect my island to the mainland.
I want to do this. I guess riding into the wind (which is rather strong, regularly, is my 'hill training.'
hey, erock and at....I will send you both the route and the prospective date, once I figure out my password on bikely (I just changed it a couple of days ago, and I can't remember it for the life of me).
Then you guys can talk about it...or we can have a conference call, hahah.
I'll be out there in June...it's looking like for sure, at the moment. It would be good to do this ride with you guys.
@ Debut 213, I know yer not talking about Polo. No possible way. Also, this was between AT and Junu, not AT, and say, Parlor Bikes, or Jack or something.
