Here for the FUN

This is my simple plea for the MR community to return to a state of pure love for BIKES and FUN.
We ride for many reasons, namely because it's fun, exhilarating, we get to go all over the city and explore, and we get to do it with our friends with whom we share the same love of BIKES and FUN.
Stealing, hating, non-constructive criticism is strangling the community, and all of our fun. It makes me very very sad.
I have so many treasured friends and experiences because of MR. Please don't destroy an awesome community that's been aging to perfection for the last 5 years. MR is a way of life for many people, and we make a concerted effort to SPREAD THE LOVE of BIKES and FUN. The terrible conduct that's been on the rise as of recently- Stealing, tagging, hating on ridazz & rides-Is a cancer. It's disgusting. Please bring it to an end. At the very least, take it far away from the MR rides and forum. We won't miss it.

Despite rbi's calls for me to give up the ghost on the issue, DTLA and all surrounding areas are always going to be the shit in my book.
The "scene" isn't all it's cracked up to be?
Please, I find all MR activities of the "swarm" variety to be full of rush and exhilaration.
2nd Fridays, CRANK Mob, and everything within that vein is a positive vibe that clears all the negativity from my head.
As far as my area goes, I'll repeat that it's a lost cause and any providing incentive to leave is on the table.
RIDE ON AND PARTY HARD

I'm probably missing what the fuss is all about, because when things started to get weird I took a break from the forum.
Which is what I do. Other strategies are focusing on the threads that are positive and/or interest me (hate does not interest me).
I don't agree with moderating the forum, though. The beauty of this joint is that it's a direct expression of what people are thinking and feeling. For good and for bad. I think mostly for good.

I'm more addicted to these threads than I should be.
If only there were more people up here that wanted to ride, but they'd rather drive everywhere and encourage auto-proliferation.
I always feel I've got the short-end of the stick.

This latest reincarnation of PC is not too appealing. He's a chameleon of style and prose... but for some reason it just doesn't quite fit.

We just turned 5!
And I saw lots of new people coming out to MR.
I hope by now, people that have been around awhile, have learned that we have to lock our bikes and keep an eye (or a hand) on our shit.
In my my its not that M.R. is souring ... the world is in a hectic state at the moment. More ridazz on the streets means a bigger demand for bikes and related gear. More new people means a bigger/ less connected community.
I know dozens and dozens of Ridazz that would put their own shit on the line to cover my back. people i hardly know except for rides. we have some great people here.
but as we grow we bring in new people and not are all initiated into our sensibility.
I like to think we are heading to to a new era which will see a lot of growth and new people but as more ridazz join our ranks, and seasoned ridazz slip away, its going to be up to us to preserve the vibe and ethic of the ridazz and pass it on the uninitiated.
We need to take personal responsibility and not create unnecessary temptations for people. ie. hang on to our shit, lock our bikes, etc.
This is not a cycle-utopia, this is a city, and we are an open group.
At the same time ... for me, being able to put down my bag, or walk away from my bike isn't what gave me a sense that this was an extended family. Its the people that i'd see time and again. The people that would help me with a free tube, or some help, or offer me a drink or a smoke. It's the feeling that most people on the ride would have my back if I fell, or my bike broke, or i needed help.
The more we foster those ridazz ethics and welcome new ridazz into the fold, the more those new people will start to get it and the less they will be likey do do things that would hurt their fellow ridazz.
not even out a sense of that's its morally wrong ... but out of a love of MR, the community, and valuing MR above whatever short term gain that might be had by gettin' over on anybody who leaves an opening.
The more people feel a connectedness to the entire group ... the less likely they will be do to do something that will negatively impact a member of the group or the group as a whole.
FUN LIVES ON!

That pretty much summed it up right there.
And as far as the minority of Naysayers here(you know who you are), you guys further add to this community by being the instigating, high-horse riding, keyboard-Cavalry that you always are.

having different viewpoints really allows us to explore ideas/ viewpoints.
at the end of the day, those ideas will live and die on their own merits.
yey for the keyboard calvary.
