I'm not black, but what will happen if I go to that ride?
It shouldn't be there if it's inclusive :(

Wish that was the case up here, but all I see are the same, upper-income white boys with pro-kits.
Meanwhile, all the blacks and hispanics I talk to up here are all too interested in getting a car/truck/SUV in order to get laid, or something.
As I said before, it's not necessarily race up here, but the desert seems to be the only area in SoCal where the car-culture has firmly implanted itself.

hey news flash....
more "brown" people ride their bikes in los angeles than any other group.
if you look close enough you see them riding on the sidewalk or posting up by a home depot or their bikes locked up behind restaurants all over the city.
a brown kids on bike ride seems like a redundant idea. especially since some of the og's of MRidazz and the Bike Kitchen are brown themselves, most messengers in DTLA are as well (and this is not even counting the pizza delivery riders).
now as far as "young" "brown"kids on bikes...going out and riding in social rides...
uuuhhh you know what im not touching this one...im already sad about the crank mob gang war ride.

Srsly? Race rides? I mean more power to a collective community but...meh. I'm not touching this subject with a 12 foot pole. I would def. show up but to nay say other riders based on their race is a no. If they're cool with our culture and feel like being part of a (mainly latino) group. Well then kudos to them.
:D
I still wanna ride, no matter the theme. Oh, And hey Manolo. Como estas? Te extrano.

It's already bad enough that there are already rides that exclude a certain bike and/or dress-code(certain someone gets riled up), but these ethnically-fueled ideas are enough to make want to hijack a steer truck and unleash it's cargo all over DTLA!!!
Seriously, everyone should fuck off about their backgrounds and ride like the true Knights of Atlantis that we all are!!!
And if another "race-related ride" does get off the ground, it will be hijacked and turned into an another F.U.N. production as well.

As much as I love you Adam. I'm not so sure about that one. Have pride. It's important that one acknowledges their heritage and obliged nature. Lets ride in unison and love each other as a whole but with out culture we're left to try an fill an empty void with materialism and western ideals of the american dream.
So........When are you coming to love me in L.A? :D I'll save a super big bag of confetti for choo.

i think we're doing our people a favor. i mean seriously who wants a purebred korean kit with a pothead/alcoholic father?
my parents would probably smack you too if they found out what you were up to.

@junu
i honestly have no idea how my parents would react if they found out the shit i do.
i dont think theyd mind much bc i have shit under control for the most part.
they used to be super strict until they realized i could be more of a fuck up. a lot of my friends went in and out of jail for stupid things but i always kept my slate clean.
my mom kinda gave me shit when she found out my girlfriend was white.
oh and cigarettes. they never stop about the cigarettes.
but i think thats the same with all parents.

Well, my background is a mixture of cannibalistic, Malaysian tribes and Islam.
Once my mom ditched my real dad and birthed me in Illinois, she was quick to dump alot of that.
As far as going to Malaysia, it's all a matter of when I'll be able to afford and more importantly, if I could get onto a place without having a shit attack.
Seriously, apart from hanging around air museums, I'm the only one in my family who has yet to fly.

been in that boat. turns out she doesn't mind the white ones so much anymore...
my parents still want me to marry someone that knows how to make kimchi so, doesn't say much... but i know that'll never happen.

reply
yeah what the fuck!!! it's always with the food!
"when im long gone, who's gonna make you ur kimchi? whos gonna make soondooboo?"
she always bummed about that and the fact that she can't communicate as with my gf. broken english can only go so far.
whats the deal with u and ur parents?
KiMS103.16.09 - 4:43 pm
reply
i've agreed to keep my personal life completely separate from them. it came as a shock to them when i moved out at 17 and they were pretty upset with me the first few years but they're learning to deal with it.
they're finally being content with me not going to a top notch university because at least i have a salary position and i've had the same job for 3 years now. i have stability, and what more could they ask for?
they live in the outskirts of k-town and i could go visit, but i seldom do just to not spark another rant session, they have my little brother to hope for. he's a smart little fuck that tries.
fuck this cross-culture shit.

Kind of my like younger bro, same age as you.
Except he got tired of Victorville pretty quick, quit his Asst Manager position at the Verizon store, and joined the Air Force.

yeah the cross culture thing is pretty rough, i lucked out bc i have an older sister.
she was like the test subject.
i think you got the same treatment as my sister.
im glad ur cool with ur parents though. families always nice to have no matter how much they rail you for pointless things.
shit man, my parents would be stoked if they knew that i had korean friends.
they always gave me shit about that. super worried that im gonna forget my roots or something.
KiMS103.16.09 - 5:04 pm
reply
haha i've chosen to long forget my roots, because my 'roots' are now built upon a sub-western culture filled with annoying ass variety shows. korea pre-1960s sucked, and then post 1960s sucked even more, and now if it weren't for starcraft, we probably would cease to exist on the map.
i mean have you seriously sat and watched one of those shows with your parents. its funny and then you realize you're laughing at your own people for the wrong reason.

There were eight of us all together, with three of my older siblings being born and raised in the Borneo half of Malaysia.
I feel I had it much easier, culturally than the rest of y'all.
Aside from my mom yelling at me in native-tongue a few times and teaching to properly cook various, Malaysian dishes, it was all Western for me.
