Me and July were arrested and charged with battery against an officer and the Tuesday Night Special on June 25th 2008, we both need witnesses ASAP my email is GRAHAMIMMEL@GMAIL.com
Did anyone take my Bike, Backpack, Ulock, Wallet, Cellphone, Change Purse with them????? I really hope all my stuff is ok.
I was totally wronged by the long arm of the law and I need your help to fix this. Please get in contact with me.

the cops totally disregarded all of my stuff and did not give a fuck about me or july, I didn't even touch the cop and i get this.

we all went swimming at CSUN, and then the cops came...we all started leaving and i was one of the last ones out and I guess the cops picked me.

Man, that's terrible. Trespassing or something might make sense, but battery against an officer? That sounds ridiculous.
Which police department was this? Is there a Northridge PD, or does LAPD or LA Sheriff's run the show?

Nicki [ coe ] said she was purposely circling around watching just in case someone needed a witness, i think she only saw you, graham, and not july since most of us didn't know about july until some guys came back to the parking lot way later.. so i guess email her since she definitely saw what was going on

also from what i saw, you fell off your bike and then the cop chased you down, i definitely didn't see you do anything to the cop.

As far as jurisdictional-issues go, it sounded like it was the
Cal-State-Univ Police Department.
In a way, they're sort of like CHP as in they're all over the state, but certain policies only limit their powers to the actual campuses.
Still, sounds pretty unreasonable and overreactive for trying to make a run for it.
It's not like y'all just threw some cocktails and were now the focal point of a hot-pursuit.

This is ridiculous! Do we need to start carrying video cameras on all our rides, just to prove ourselves innocent?

What station were you taken to? If we can call the desk seargent and have people who saw it give statements that you did not strike the officers maybe they will back donw from a trumped up charge and leave you with only trespass. worth a shot.

University cops are some of the worst and most poorly trained cops with guns out there! When I was going to school, this one cop shot this guy late at night. Ended up this guy was going to his car and was trying to open his own car! The cop thought he was a burglar and was trying to break into a car.
If you ever have a run in with university cops, give them ALOT of room. Treat them like they have ZERO experience handling a gun too. Not only that, I believe since they're some type of government employees, they are untouchable.

So I was talking to a security officer who I guess was also a peace officer at one time, he was telling about a lot of important things. But one very important thing he brought up was.....That nobody that whole time read me my miranda rites.
I think I have the upper hand now. I just need a good attorney, any suggestions???

the Miranda rights only apply to information they obtained from you while being question after the arrest.
If they questioned you after they arrest and didn't inform you of your right to remain silent, that evidence from interviewing you is inadmissible.

hey i saw the whole thing and its pretty fucked up.
basically as we were leaving the pool somebody yelled HES NOT A COP HES A RENT A COP (when the csun cops are real cops) and that cop just took down a dude and called for backup. there was around 6 of us there when 3 more cops ran up. i was watching the gate when that dude was tackled so let me know whats up and if you guys need help.

I've instigated cops before. Thankfully they continued to perform their duties in a professional manner. Calling them rent-a-cops is no reason for someone to get thrown in jail on trumped up charges. These cops should be fired.

it's the American Civil Liberties Union. they should be able to help you out with legal advice concerning your case. hopefully they can hook you up with list of lawyers who take cases like this pro-bono.
