Hey all, the city of West Hollywood is funding a program to help bring more cyclists to the streets by offering classes to riders who may be new to the streets and riders who want to gain more confidence riding in traffic. The program is going to be taught by Ron Durgin and LCI (league certified instructor) with assistance from Meghan and myself who are in the final stages of become certified ourselves.
Even if you have a lot of experience cycling in traffic and around the city as many of us do, I would encourage you to take these classes as you will learn something new guaranteed.
Find that friend that you know who is timid about riding in traffic and bring them along. Make it a bike date!
I as well as Meghan Kavanaugh (Gary7's wifey) will be assisting in some of these sessions and eventually we will be teaching as well. If a lot of people show up, the city of West Hollywood will continue to fund the classes.
Here is the info for upcoming classes:

This is great--and awesome that the City of WeHo recognizes it's value.
I see it clearly says ages 18 and up, but say I want to bring my kids (ages 9 and 7)? I give them plenty instruction riding on city streets, but they, too, could also benefit from this. Think they'll get booted if we all show up? Their attention spans are longer than many adults I know, so there's no concern they'll be good students, not disruptive, etc. Thoughts?
