Be on the lookout for a black 50s chevy nomad, lowered with chrome rims and tinted windows. This guy hit one of us on the Bicykillers ride 8/6/09
This guy was swerving at riders and actually hit one. Then took off !
It may have some body damage / scatches on the right side .
It also is running very rich putting out a lot of fumes.
may also have blue and yellow california plates.
was heading north on sepulveda pass to the valley.

gotta ask, was the nomad in great condition? like really glossy paint and such, or black primer look.

Condition was clean lots of chrome trim chrome wheels.
Surprising as those cars cost bank.
Maybe someone had dadies car for the night.

this is from a guy that owns this in Illinois, but the car looked really similar to this one correct (so people know what to look for).
There cant be more then 50 - 100 of these cars in LA right?

@sc_nomad - yes the LAPD showed up and took a report but said there wasn't much they could do without plates. They were very nice but kept saying, "You shouldn't ride at night--there are too many drunks on the road." Will and I separately replied, "a drunk driver killed a cyclist in Boquet Canyon at 9am last month."
@Bicykillers - On the surafce, Will seemed to be in fairly good shape, considering he could have sustained more serious injuries. He had road rash on his hip area and a nasty abrasion on the palm of his hand. He was limping around so hopefully he didn't break any bones. But I'll bet he's sore as hell today. He said he'd logon and post his condition soon.
@thegodofthor - good find on that picture. The station wagon looked very similar to that one with a bit more hot rod flair. I think the windows were tinted and the roof was chopped a few inches. But the car was all black (unlike the two-tone Chevy pics I posted in the Bicykillers Year 2 thread, with lighter colored roofs).
Illy and I will be rolling over to Cruise Night at Bob's in a bit.

Hey, I truly apologize if I have offended you, somehow by thinking that video was funny. I was in no way trying to downplay or laugh at your friend that got hurt. The fact that someone was injured on a ride terrifies me, especially because the motorist seemed like he was intentionally trying to hit someone.
On the other hand, the video was hilariously cheesy. The 70's soundtrack, bad acting and camera angles make for good laugh, but the fact that I find the video funny, doesn't mean I am making fun of the situation or your friend. I'm sorry if you took it that way.

just got got back from the doc, pelvis is broken but fortunately it is not near the femur and socket so there's nothing for them to do except give me vicodin and tell me to lay around

This is fucking garbage...Way to much of this stuff going on lately. If you guys honestly think that car will be @ BBB report that thing as soon as you see it! You already have an assualt with a deadly weapon case on yer hands I'm sure the cops will have you on that one.

thanx, it's going pretty good actually. pelvis is fractured but only in one place and the doc says i can put weight on it. it still hurts but i can walk without crutches a little bit. don't know when i'll be able to sit on a saddle as that's right where the fracture is. i could probably ride a recumbent right now, anyone got a loaner?

joyriders seem to prefer sepulveda over the 405. When root run goes up there we frequently see roving gangs of motorcyclists.

Van Nuys Blvd. Crusing is happening every 2nd Wednesday night
yes the city is allowing people to cruse once again
the theme is classic and muscle cars, just like back in the 60s and 70s
when wednesday night on VN blvd was the most happining spot around.
Maybe a possible Nomad sighting ?
