car collision involving lapd

just a few minutes ago a honda and a squad car collided
the guys in the honda jumped out of the car and took off, leaving the cop in the car
pretty soon a bunch of police cars showed up and helicopters... shit is crazy right now
this is on virgil, just north of melrose. by the taxi place

oh thats just really stupid on the people in the honda part. are the officers okay?

they both got extracted from their vehicles by firefighters... they both were moving so it looks like they are alive. the fact that they didn't leave their vehicle leads me to suspect that they sustained injuries. not sure though.
i have no idea why those guys ran.. 3 or 4 hispanic males in their 20s or so. they bolted north on virgil right away. leaving the car running at the scene. if i were them, i would have made sure the officers were okay first. even if they have something to hide, that's just fucked up.

seems like the cop was heading west on melrose toward virgil and the honda was going north on virgil passed melrose. the font passenger door was impacted by the front of the squad car. the honda did a 180 and slid backward a little. the cop car also did a 180.
someone must have run a red light. no idea who it was though... cops do it all the time.

i wish i knew... i saw one guy jump out of the window of the front passenger seat cause he couldn't open the door. he stumbled when he hit the ground. i thought that they would check to make sure everyone else was okay, but then the other passengers got out of the car and they all ran.
i heard a cop yelling at someone to freeze, getting very emotional
"don't fucking move" etc and screaming like he was going to shoot, but i didn't hear a gun shot
i doubt it was one of those guys cause they would have gotten a lot further by then.

yeah.. hopefully i'll find out why
not sure how long lapd will take to figure this out
but you know for damn sure they will be putting a lot more effort into it than for any cyclists who get hit or killed

yea all they will do is run a licence plate search and find them quick.
yea im pretty aware LAPD doesnt do shit if a cyclist gets hit or killed after the hummer incident.

Yeah, asking "why'd they run?" is almost as quaint in its naivete as wondering why they didn't first stop to make sure the cops were OK before high-tailing it

i didn't mean for them to check on the cops and then run. i was saying that the first thing that i would do/think of doing was to check up on the cops.

Obviously. That's why there are so many hit and runs in LA. Probably didn't even have a legit license plate on the car. Otherwise, anyone with seven brain cells knows not to run.

But it wasnt a bicycle rider or a civilian for that matter. it was a cop that was proabably running the light, that got hit.
Hit and runs suck balls, dont get me wrong! It sucks what happened to you but this isnt the same situation.
Who knows maybe when they saw it was officers that they hit, they proabably decided no matter if they were in the right. They were going to be fucked because they were cops and the law will protect there own..

In all, being a civilian entails more accountability than one thinks.
An army, navy, or air force doctor doesn't have to adhere to crazy malpractice insurance laws.
A civilian doctor has a mountain-range of paperwork when it comes to just that.
A military-designed bridge falls apart, they'll blame it on sabotage.
A civilian-designed bridge falls to pieces, the engineering firm, staff and anyone involved in the construction will face board inquiries, fines, lawsuits and possible jailtime for negligence, manslaughter,. etc
Police shoot a would-be burglar in a home, then find out it was the owner instead, accidental shooting.
Civilian blows away would-be prowler that just got into home, they're thrown into a holding facility despite the obvious fact that the prowler had no rhyme or reason being there.
Whatever happened to equal protection under the law?
Now it seems to be all about what rank you are and how much weight you carry.

As far as military vs. civvy healthcare goes, I just got that impression off of a US Air Force Medical Officer brochure I got in the mail.
It talked about how recent medical school graduates could take care of their school expenses and practice medicine without the usual stress of working in a regular practice.
Sounds like a kick ass deal to me.

Just nitpicking about those with high-interest, college loans that have to be paid off.
I'm just going to be forever bummed that I'll never get be able to get into that line of work.
