hey guys
i want to start a saturday afternoon ride where we hit up all of our favorite streets in la. preferably we ride down empty residential streets so we can pretty much take up the street instead of one lane. i'd like to hear what streets you like to ride down are so we can really start planning where we'll go. some major streets can be quite lovely, but let's try to avoid heavy traffic, at least for the first ride.
as this is my first attempt at planning a ride any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

My favorite street in the Los Angeles Area is 10th st in Claremont in early spring, all the trees there flower, and in the afternoon it's fucking gorgeous, however, in LA itself, I gotta think about that one.

Monterey Rd. from where it picks up in El Sereno (it intersects Huntington Drive) all the way over the hill, and down into Hermon.
You get to ride through a mountain ridge (the road cuts through the hillside) and descend into Hermon. The bonus is Cycleway Coffee waiting near the bottom of the back side of that hill.
Collis Avenue is another nice street to ride down that picks up near the intersection of Monterey and Huntington Drive.
In Downtown, there is a stretch of Hope Street, a few blocks away from the library, that is divine. Large trees, very little through traffic, and a well maintained streetscape make this a great place to ride.
Some of the most beautiful streets I ride on are in the City of South Pasadena. There are too many to name, but it is a really great place to ride and take in the beautiful sights and smells of early 20th Century suburbia (before ihome ownership a "consumer" status).

fuzz and i have some preliminary plans for a book about "Bikeways of LA" ...with a focus on roads and streets that actually get you places instead of massive looping recreational bike tours of topanga canyon and southbay and what not...
so i definitely want to collect more of everyones favorite streets...
and routes!!! (bicycle librarian)
kind of a no-brainer on my favorite street....

it would be great to have as much info and feedback as possible and to not do the same research again and again...
yo sean! can you set up a page just for this that everyone can contribute to....perhaps just a simple "Routes Wiki"

west bound/ santamonica bound: 4SBB (4th st.) from normandie to cochran / 6th, from cochran to s. vicente / charleville bl. or gregory way to sta. monica blvd. / broadway - from bundy/ohio (tri-intersection) to the ocean bl. (the coast)
these are a series of roads i like when i want some thinking time. on busy roads, im in warrior mode. not a very relaxing mode. not much thinking other than survival and fight or flight on your mind at times. it's like flying a fighter plane. you need precise and calculated manuevering.

oh one more. from k-town to hollywood.
(beyond wilton:westbound) rosewood-ish (rosewood and another street briefly) route to vine - vine to hollywood bl.
willoughby through hollywood when i go to the TARGET on labrea & sta. monica. (starting) from gower. (head up melrose to gower for this route) or the rosewood route to vine to willoughby.

i REALLY like hollywood blvd in heavy traffic.
fuzzbeast, kyber, myself and a few others were weaving in and out of traffic down hollywood on the race to woah-eight. even though it was only like, ten minutes worth of riding, it was still the highlight of the night.

i think some of these streets are great. i love 6th street but i think 4th is sweeter and more chill. the streets in south pas are great to ride as are the ones mid-city. you all have some nice and diverse ideas. anymore?
