this is true. it's your responsibility to lock up your shit right. that being said, it doesn't absolve the thief, but just to avoid that whole fiasco, just lock up the bike properly.

Sad but true, I've heard this before. It is no secret that some kids have stolen bikes are have no qualms admitting since they did not steal it in the first place. 90% is clearly an exaggeration but even my informal polling shows it is more rampant than not.
