I can think of three or four that are in this community. But we sure do seem to be in the minority, don't we?

edit: i am not straight edge. i tend to try not to adhere to those kinds of labels. i experience, and then decide if i am a fan or not. although the tinycities + alcohol = generally, never.
i am proof in this scene that you can have a blast and not drink.

Yeah, that is why I didn't say "straight edge." Because that implies a certain kind of aggro politics that I can't really get with (anymore).
Though most people probably think I'm totally aggro.

sean - i rarely ride the valley anymore. just sfv crit mass. mostly westside. i need to try and get out to more downtown based rides.

Yeah, I don't think straight edge has to be aggro either. But having grown up outside of DC, I definitely knew a lot of people that did.

i broke edge when i learned of the hardliners because i no longer saw it as something positive. but now intoxication has got me to my "boiling point".

I don't drink much myself.
I tend to not like beer that much and only seem to enjoy Whiskey before going to sleep.
I mean, it does chill the muscles out and makes it easier.

Can I also say that, while I did listen to some hardcore back in the day (it really was a regional imperative), I never really got into that stuff -- and had never even heard of hard line before tonight?
But I did get a kick out of this from the Wikipedia entry about it:
"The General" once famously said that hardline "allows for recreation" when asked by a new recruit if it was acceptable for followers to watch
