FAT ANKLE

question for fixed drivetrain and kinesiologists.
so, when i slow down or do speed checks, my leading foot is my left foot.
my left foot pulls up, my right foot pushes down.
my left ankle is swollen like a motherfucker. it feels like a 3 week old sprain. its ugly and shit.
im guessing its from constantly pulling up with my left foot. i do switch back and forth between both feet but i tend to pull more often with my left foot.
soooo
my question is,
is there something i need to do so this will heal, is there a special way of pulling up, is my foot just crazy, do i eat too much salt? etc etc etc etc.
and yes, i do have a brake but hey... sometimes a mothafucka just has to skip stop around.

you should get the cankle checked out by a specialist to see if its something more serious like a tear/fracture etc.
for temporary pain relief:
I.C.E.
Ice
Compress
Elevate
should help the swelling go down.
unless its gout. then you would have to watch your alcohol consumption and make sure your uric acid levels are in check.

are you being sarcastic about the gout thing?
there is diabetes in my family and i have high bp and hypertension.
and wouldnt gout affect all my joints? not just my left ankle.
fuck dude, im all freaked out now.

Sounds more like a repetitive use injury from your skidding like you described. Gout usually effects just one joint at a time, most commonly the one in the big toe closest to the foot. RICE is the way to go. Motrin for pain. Elevate and ice ideally 20 minutes every two hours. And get some darn brakes.

I gout anything's wrong with ya man...
My guess is you may have hyper extended your ankle, causing the tendons n shit to become aggravated. Ice it and I guarantee it'll be gone in a day.

im not usually a sarcastic person, but i was semi-serious about gout.
i know a few people with it including my dad, and i've met a few young people with it. i wouldn't rule it out, but i agree its more likely the stressors you're constantly putting on it.

agree with the motrin or anything that has ibuprofin.
ibuprofin should actually help reduce the swelling.
tylenol won't.

I just ran into an old friend of mine. He was walking around with bag of ice strapped to his ankle. Apparently, he was one of the unfortunate people who got salmonella poisoning (tomatoes, pistachios, who knows?) Anyway, it turns out he may have some defective gene which causes the salmonella to attack the joints - something that does not happen to an otherwise healthy person affected by salmonella poisoning.
Maybe something you should check out.
