2009 TOY RIDE START TIME

I'm leading the ride from Olvera Street to the after party. We really need to leave Olvera Street by 10:15 so this is for the ride leaders...
find me and let me know your group has arrived so we'll know when we can leave.
We only have the afterparty spot for a limited time, so we should try to get there before 11pm. The route is a short 5 1/2 miles but we're gonna have a lot of riders with possible rain so we'll be riding slower most likely.

How far is the after party from union station or a closer gold line stop?

Across the street from Union Station is Olvera street and is where the ride meet point is for the start of the ride. The distance to the after party is under 5 miles but the location is not being announced from my understanding. So make the start point (Olvera Street Gazebo) by 10:00. Get there earlier, actually.

Location has been outed by bloggers....I can say, the pico/aliso station on the goldline east side extension is the closes stop.

Giant Gazebo at Olvera Street - Straight across from Union Station exit. You can't miss it.

the after party is about 2 miles from union station.
there are gold line stops that may be a bit closer.
i promise it will be easy to orient ones self to down town after the party.
ALSO: don't fret if you miss your train.
We will be providing accommodations, entertainment, and FUN for people who want to wait around/ party till the trains start running again shortly after 4a.

Eddieboy is right. According to the RAY-DAR, looks like it is going to rain hard in the next two hours, tapper off, clear up, and be glorious by 8pm. 100% chance of awsomeness is expected.

Like Borfo said, the closest Gold Line station to the after party is the Pico/Aliso station in front of Purgatory Pizza. It's 1.18km from the party.
I'll be taking that chairlift back to Highland Park. The last north-bound train rolls through there at 1AM. (Remember, Metro rules now state that "Only 2 bikes per train car." ...Bawhahahahahahaha!)

@TAR - check your Gold Line timetable. I'm pretty sure the northbound trains after midnight only go as far as Union Station. If you want to go all the way to Highland Park, you need to be at Union Station at 11:52, I think.

Sucks that only 5 people showed up for the SCLA:. ride towards the Toy Ride. It was a small turn out because of the rain. I call everyone a lame who ranked out because of the rain

My absolute joy at the turnout for the most Awesome Toy Ride Ever was tempered briefly when I discovered my rear bikelight had been jacked by some scoundrel at the after-party.
But in the spirit of all the goodwill going on: whoever took it didn't steal it because it's my gift to you with hope that it helps get you to your destinations safer. Or at least keeps you from stealing from someone else.

yeah, i would bet money that he slept all the way to the sierra madre station and then was woken by the conductor. he was snoring loud as shit. it was a trip watching your video then being like, wait a minute i remember that. hopefully that spandex guy got home all right. i was talking to him and he said he was from clairmont or something. his stop was del mar. but he didnt get off untill memorial park. hopefully he got home all right.
