So last night I go to the pigeon run ride and hardly any people showed up. We just started riding around downtown and already the night was starting off bad. Ash Ketchum & I just wanted to go to hipster fest (art walk) but everyone else wanted to ride. As we were riding, two people got flats... Every time we would stop, these dumb hipsters would start tagging on shit. I'd be like, "WTF? Cut that shit out. This is exactly why people talk shit about us, cuz you dumbasses want to put your toy ass tags up!"
By this point, I was already annoyed by these dumbass hipsters. Tagging, fucking around on their fixed gear bicycles and too worried about doing their stupid tricks and looking cool. Ask Snowcone, he saw everything.
So then, we're riding through Downtown and one of the hipsters crashed into me. We went flying and ate shit. That fool fell on his face and I fell on my knee and wrist and his tire cut my eye. Let me remind you, this fool was drunk and/or faded. So drunk/faded, that he just got up and didn't give a shit that he busted his lip open.
I was then taken to the emergency room and my wrist is broken and my knee is sprained. I can't ride, I can't photograph and I can't play music. This is great. And I literally typed this whole thing with one hand!

Heal up quickly... and try not to let this bad experience turn you off of riding again. Rule of thumb is that if you don't feel comfortable on a certain ride (whether it be because of the people, the route, or anything else) there's no harm in taking off. That's a big reason I don't ride CRANK MOB anymore... Just seems so risky sometimes.
Yeah, a lot of my friends don't do crank mob or mosey anymore for that reason. This was my first time at pigeon run too. I just happened to be bored and in the area.
It pisses me off when I see drunk riders like these on rides. What's worse is that even if you yell at them, they're completely oblivious to what you're trying to tell them and those around them. Gotta be super defensive on rides these days.

the pigeon run ride is a good ride and we support them. one has to remember that not all the riders were being assholes or drunks, just those few. we also think the word "hipster" is really over used and not used correctly by some.
taggers are not hipsters, nor are they rich, uneducated, drunks, or social vampires. okay maybe social vampires.

sorry to hear of the crash. the answer is to go fast. to employ a gross over-generalization, hipsters, particularly the drunk kind, are slow--either running a tiny gear so that they spin out or one that's too big and they blow up. training--the anti-hipster. as for the misuse of the word. i don't think anyone has been using it to refer to bird, miles or trane for sometime, so it can now be used like we used to use 'jocks' 'stoners' and 'nerds' in high school. though i was all of those things.
I'm amazed that I've managed to stay away from drunks on bikes for as long as I have... I have to credit that to my uber defensive riding style... I, like everyone should be vigilant of their "space" when they are riding. keeping your self distanced from other bike riders especially ones you dont know by at least 4 or 5 feet of radius all around you. when I see a drunk on a bike all swervy I warn the people around me and try to get away from that person. had a couple close calls but havent been hit yet.... fingers crossed.

Those kids arent hipsters your confused! There taggers, plain and simple. What made them hispters? there bikes? I am sorry you got hit and ended up in the hospital but like roadblock says you need to ride defensivley. If I see people swerving I just yell @ them and tell them to hold there line or GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME...
+1 on creating space around you. It's the best thing you can do riding in a group. And as was already said, stay away from swervy ridazz.

ppl just need to control their drinking, and or smoking if you cant handle it on a ride you better not come near me ill say something; those kids were walking all over you, you gotta say something to em, "hey you little fuckers stop doing that shit its fucked up.." if they say something back, call the fucking police say they were tagging and shit they wont do that any more. promise.
well, they were wannabe ass taggers... like i said, their shit was TOY!!! hahaha. anyways, yes, the guy did at least appologize and admitted it was his fault. however, still a bad idea to drink/blaze and then ride... i didn't even think he was drunk, until he hit me, he ate shit, and didn't even care that he busted his lip open ha! he really didnt give a shit and that's how i already knee he was on some dumb shit, oh well!
an experience like this just taught me to ride more cautiously, especially people i'm not acquainted with. i'm just lucky it was my wrist broken instead of my skull! i'll be up and riding hopefully sooner than we think.
also, the word hipster has been blown out of proportion and we all know that... beatniks don't exist anymore, so now the word just has an entirely new meaning, and it's not nice at all... lol. back in high school, i was a skinhead girl. full blown chelsea, boots, fred perrys and everything. peoplr called me white power all the time and i'd be like no... the traditional skinheads originated from jamaica and actually advocated anti-racism...

can we just seriously not buy minors alcohol. i know i might sound like a hypocrit, but im fine with getting super high and not being drunk. all the bad things on rides start with alcohol. if we want to change the image of MR, we have to set a good example for the impressionable youth in the community.
and either way, minors are going to get their hands on alcohol anyways. i just think you shouldn't get too drunk if you're going to be riding. not just because you can get a BUI mor whatever, but just for the safety of yourself and others. lol, i learned the hard way when i got too drunk and then fell on my nose... hahaha! *EMBARRASSING*
People simply just need to be aware of riders around them at all times. Nica, you almost took me out one night and had no idea so it's not always the drunk hipsters. However, that tagging bullshit instantly warrants a dropkick to the skull.
99% of the people on social rides cannot fucking ride. and it's not because they are drunk. It is inexperience. Mix that with alcohol it's a bad combo. I mean, yeah they can stay up and ride in a straight line (who can't?), but get them in a group and it's a whole other story. God forbid we should have to turn a corner. A downhill? fuck, it's all over.

that last lacm I went on, I was way in the back b/c the ride left while I was in CVS getting cash back so I could support the ALC ridazz...anyways I realized quickly that if I did not get to the front..and fast...I was going to get taken out by someone. I just remember thinking, "Jesus, THIS is why I stick to Wolfpack." Although, there's some sketch riders on that ride, too, but they are few and far between. Luckily I'm used to bumping bars from the bmxin' days.. I've had people bounce off of me and fall their own asses to the ground.
Even more luckily, rides such as those do not appeal to me. If Wolfpack did not exist, I would be a sad, lonely bike rider in LA. Well, maybe not sad. But lonely, yes. Actually, not even lonely. Who needs people? fuck people. I'm riding alone half the time on wolfpack anyways..sheeyit.

I'm also plenty used to bumping into other people from that crazy polo shit... But riding in the middle of the pack last MR ride, some stupid drunk ass fucker managed to knock me off my bike, as I was slowing to away from him && yelling at him to stop fucking around. Pissed me the fuck off- even at polo, other people don't knock ME off my bike. Definitely will be awhile before I go back to riding with the crowd on those rides.
Have you ever seen someone swerve and then proceed to say something like "I'M SOOOOOOO HIIIIIIGGHHH!!!!!" or "I'M TOOO HIIIIGGHHH!!!"
