I understand trying to help a local cause, but what about donating to something more substantial - like to indigenous communities that are trying to stop the Keystone XL pipeline/ tar sands project in canada - one of the biggest most toxic petroleum extraction attempts in recorded history. (the tar sands are bigger than the state of NY and require 3 barrels of water for every 1 barrel of oil)
... and then I remembered our donations are toys... maybe we could start collecting money this year? All those cheap toys bought in 7-11 before the ride support some shady business.
This is the All City Toy Ride.
There are 364 other days to make a ride that supports any other worthy cause.
Anybody who knows a kid or remembers being a kid remembers, how rad it is to have a toy to play with.
Good toys can also be developmental / learning tools.
It is possible to buy a sustainable toy or make one.
Howeverm the path of least resistance (for toys and most other thing in life) is to buy something cheap and crapy from a corporate outlet and produced with in-ethical labor standards.
If anybody wants to devote the time and energy to help people find ethical / sustainable toys. We all welcome that. Join Our Google Group
This is a do-acracy, as we say.
Everybody is welcome to step up and help grow and improve this ride/ tradition.
