What I like about riding is a free good time! Dressing up, meeting people, unexpected adventures, exercise, NEVER WORRYING ABOUT PARKING.
LA River at midnight last night - excellence.
Everything. Even the flats and especially the falls
03.7.09 - 3:19 pm
the pain in your penis after you urinate dehydrated urine.
03.7.09 - 3:44 pm
But if I was dead I wouldn't experience that horrible pain. & if i couldn't experience that pain, I also would not be able to feel other things.
03.7.09 - 3:55 pm
Getting somewhere (anywhere) without the use of a private car.
I love the freedom and the adventure of going by bike/Metro/bus
03.7.09 - 7:04 pm
What I like about riding is that when in use in the right environment with the right people, it can release enough serotonin for my brain to be happy with a a few months.
03.7.09 - 10:01 pm
I like how my heart just skipped a beat when I saw the ride posting for wph.
03.7.09 - 10:45 pm
I like that every time I see a cyclist approaching in the distance, the first thing that pops into my mind is the possibility that it's someone I know.
03.8.09 - 12:22 am
I like riding my bike in traffic. It's like swimming with the whales.
03.8.09 - 12:25 am
I like late night solo rides into unknown territory. The fact that you can just look at a map at any time and decide "I want to go there" is both unremarkable and amazing. There's a freedom that you get from riding that's hard to pin down. It's the freedom of 4am in unfamiliar surroundings, knowing that no one else is seeing what you're seeing right now, as if the lights of the city are shining just for you. Freedom like that.

Despite all the shit I rant about, there's still something special about riding on a night, or a day in the desert when the WIND IS NOT BLOWING.
In the absence of that deafening howl, the goodness of this, otherwise, bland area comes to the surface and I'll do everything in my power to take advantage of it.
03.8.09 - 3:58 am
what I like about riding my bike is when it's really cold outside you just need to ride hard for a few minutes to feel warm and on the flipside if it's really hot out, the breeze from movement keeps you slightly cooler than walking..you just need a big bottle of water for when you stop.
03.8.09 - 1:54 pm
I like 24-hour donut shops, and I like riding my bike to get a fresh glazed, hot from the fryer.
03.9.09 - 1:52 am
Actually, though, last night at mile seventy or so (right before I decided I had had enough riding for the night), we were at that Ralph's out by Moustache Bridge and got some croissants fresh from the oven. The smell drew us all over to them. Lordy! Grocery store croissants are usually just about the worst things ever, but those last night tasted like heaven.

what i like about riding is running over small animals and some times making friends with them.
03.9.09 - 2:40 am
I catch myself feeling on another plane at stoplights in front of cars when I'm going to work. Breathing the air, sweating lightly, feeling the breeze, flexing muscles, singing James Brown very loudly, eased consciousness, clear mind, feeling smart and sexy.
03.9.09 - 10:17 am
ohh mee toooo. I'm always smiling and singing and drivers look at me like their sooo jealous cuz I look happy and they are miserable in their cars. HA
03.9.09 - 10:22 am
I like when you're riding hard and pushing yourself and you reach the point where your tired and you want to stop or atleast slow down. Then the right song comes up on your playlist and the beat makes legs pump and before you know it your speeding down the road again.
03.9.09 - 7:02 pm
I only listen to the cacophony of the city and the voices in my head.
03.9.09 - 7:03 pm
I like practicing my whistling. There are some moments when I am really good and loud and pedestrians think I am cat calling them.
03.9.09 - 9:41 pm
your never wasting a second if your on a bicycle
03.9.09 - 10:38 pm
...the feeling of accomplishment you get when you arrive at home while the sun is starting to rise, and realizing you just rode 100 miles.
oh, and the hot shower that follows.
03.9.09 - 10:44 pm
"I only listen to the cacophony of the city and the voices in my head."
+1 on the listening to the voices in my head. The only way to keep them happy is for me to ride.
03.9.09 - 11:19 pm
i like riding through traffic and getting honked at, the riding four block and laughing because the guy with the functional horn is 3 block behind me
03.10.09 - 12:29 am
I like riding my bike today through those speed radars in residential neighborhoods through Torrance to find out I ride at 30 mph on a 25 mph school zone.
03.10.09 - 12:46 am
i like the pretentiousness of the scene
03.10.09 - 4:48 pm
i love the fact that i cannot push 24 for an hour no matter how hard i try. something to always work up to.
03.10.09 - 4:51 pm
I like how sometimes you feel like you're flying.
03.10.09 - 7:11 pm
I like raising my arms in the air knowing I increased my speed through the Torrance Traffic Speed Doppler Radar from 30 mph yesterday to 33 mph today.
Try it out on 235th street close to the intersection on 235th and Arlington Ave before the Torrance PD takes it away and moves it to some shitty busy street... like Hawthorne.
Tomorrow. I'm hauling ass to go 40mph. Cameras ready and all.
I'm curious if Torrance PD has taken photos of me riding it in circles.

"Its like camping on camp." - B-Rad on bicycle touring.

03.11.09 - 2:47 pm
hanging out in empty lots and getting drunk. =)
03.11.09 - 2:50 pm
So very true... school has become excruciatingly painful for me since I've started hanging out with Ridazz. btw, where've you been? Haven't seen you in quite awhile. Miss you!

What I love about riding is the fluidity of motion. The intense amount of spacial awareness allows you to execute maneuvers that would normally get you killed if tried behind the wheel of a bulky car. Having this ability makes every ride into mind game of planning out the best/ most fun path to take—which are much more plenteous than if you were in a car. Also, the ability to break away from the main streets and take new back road adventures.
What I love about riding with groups is the synchronicity of it all. If you're with a good group, everyone calls out their turns, holds their lines, yet still flows with the pace of a raging river.
What I love about riding down hills is the sound of the wind ripping past your ears. Oooh, and it's really fun when the light at the bottom of the hill remains green, allowing you to just blow on through and enjoy the G-force high a bit longer.
03.11.09 - 2:57 pm
i like riding cuz then i see my friends....i only have bike friends...
It's been really hard for me to make friends up here due to that reason.
If 80% of the desert people I run into think you're impeded due to not owning a car, then why even bother talking to them.
I'll try to talk to a few people about how I get around and then move on to some other topic.
They still find my mode of transport disturbing.
03.11.09 - 5:49 pm
For me its my time away from the rest of the world.
Just throw on some good tunes,
and meditate for the duration of the ride.
03.11.09 - 6:19 pm
I like the way that a bicycle becomes a kind of license to wander. You circle the block a few times on foot and some people start to look at you a little funny. You do it in a car and they might call the cops. You do it on a bike and they hardly raise an eyebrow.
OK, fine, that's not totally true. Some people might still look at you a little funny, but they were probably looking at you funny to begin with. It's like wearing a cape. You're so out of place that you belong everywhere.
05.22.12 - 9:59 pm
HAHhaha. "Your type doesn't belong here. Clearly, you should go back to...um, uh...fuck it...here, I guess."
